What a pleasure it was to work on this beautiful family home. Upon reaching the chimney it became evident that a full rebuild would be required, with most of the joints essentially completely empty behind a thin sliver of cement (if you live in an older house, please get your chimneys checked!!). After that it was the usual clean, repair and repoint using a hybrid lime mortar. A sharp, clean and most importantly - moisture permeable home.

All cement works removed, including some nasty tanking around the bay window. Lime based repairs applied where necessary...

It's amazing the difference a couple of minor repairs and some lime repointing can make.

Bottom half completed and what a job it's been! So far I have:
Removed all cement pointing and render
Cleaned down stone
Applied repairs to multiple areas including coins, lintels, mullions, cornices and other decorative areas
Replaced two lintels
Repointed with lime
Finished windows with burnt sand mastic.

Top half to be completed at a later date when I'm likely to get a good run of weather as it will getting done off a cherry picker 😱
