HOW LONG TO TRAIN MY DOG?
People often ask us how long it will take us to train their dog to a standard where the dog has a reliable recall, can walk to heal, has solid impulse control etc.

The truth is, we don’t train your dog, that’s your job. We show you how to do that. Everyone is different and everyone wants different things from their dogs. We have customers who after one session feel that they have learnt enough to be able to continue the training with their dog on their own. Equally, we have customers who want to learn more about training and might book a package of 6 or more sessions.

Having a trained dog isn’t about completing a course, it’s about learning how to live with your dog properly. It’s about living with your dog consistently within the rules & boundaries you set. It’s about regular daily practice of the commands you have taught your dog. It’s about knowing how to communicate with your dog, to tell them when they got it right and when they got it wrong. That’s what we teach our customers.

LEADERSHIP - IS IT IMPORTANT?
You might or might not have an opinion about that, but one thing is for sure, it’s important to your dog!

Many people have differing opinions about many dog related subjects but the truth is, the dog decides much of them. It doesn’t matter what your opinions are, what matters is,
if it means anything to your dog!

When it comes to leadership, your dog instinctively understands it from a genetic standpoint. In your dogs eyes, someone has to adopt the leadership role and if it’s not you, genetically they have no choice but to adopt the leadership role themselves.

A good way to determine if your dog sees you as the leader in your relationship, is to pay attention to their behaviour. The following behaviours are signs that your dog is taking the leadership role in too many situations, which inevitably leads to behaviour problems, (if they are not that in themselves):

No impulse control at doorways/gates/thresholds or before being fed.
Demand whining or barking to get what they want.
Pulling on the lead
Persistent Initiating to be petted
No recall
Jumping up at people
