Back from our trip to Crete 🇬🇷 an interesting few Arb bits to share!

1. At first I thought it was simply a way to mark trees by the roadside, but after further investigation and a few chats with the locals, we soon found out there are a few more things going on. The white wash around the main stems has two purposes: it helps to prevent pests from getting into the canopy, but also helps to protet the bark from the extremely high temperatures in the summer months.

2. We were lucky enough to get to see a 1450 year old Plane tree named Zeus's tree. A stunning 14.5m circumference and still in full vigor, unfortunately it recently had to have a weight reduction due to decay, but still has heeps of life left yet.

Last one before the Easter weekend fully gets underway, this close proximity target Sycamore just had to come down (see video of the rot t the base).

Tricky one to deal with as it was in the middle of Perranporth, lots of close together houses, steep access up a hill, tight parking and scaffolding too boot. All done on time and on budget though. 😁👍
