Internal spaces.
At Penn Gwel, living accommodation is split into two single storey barn forms.
In one, the kitchen, dining and living room, partially divided by an eaves height wall holding the log burner. The bedrooms, bathrooms and utilities in the other.
A communal space, the functional kitchen and spacious dining area allow the family to cook, chat, host, lean, sit high, sit low, read, work, or to gaze out at the moor, even whilst washing up.
A change in ceiling height from low and flat in the kitchen (with mezzanine above) to vaulted over the dining table and living space indicates the change in function.
The kitchen and timber panelling was all fabricated and fitted by George Robinson Kitchens, the warm, naturally finished oak finish tying in with the tactile wood wool ceilings and textured lime plaster walls.
