Due to issues outwith my control which has delayed a contract due to start this week, we have found ourselves with some availability in the diary. If anyone has any odd jobs needing done around the house or workplace now would be the time to get us in and get it done.

The new law in Scotland will require all homes to have interlinked Smoke and Heat alarms installed by February 2022. A Carbon Monoxide detector is also required where gas is present (boilers, gas hobs etc).

Does your home meet the criteria? Compliance with the new legislation will form any part of a home report. It will become a requirement for home insurance policies also. Failure to comply could invalidate your insurance.

Every installation will be different with some properties already having hard wired smoke detectors and only needing a few added. In this instance we would replace the hardwired with like for likes adding a radio-link base onto one and then installing wireless detectors where ever required. This would mean no mess or decoration as no new cables would need installed.

In properties where there are no detectors at all we would use 10 year lithium battery radiolink detectors.

All properties will have different requirements, so contact us and find out what it would take to upgrade your home and bring it into line with the imminent legislation. It will also give you that peace of mind your home is protected.

Just listenened to Martin Lewis on good morning, sounds promising for the self-employed.

Think they are just struggling to get the legislation sorted because there are so many different self employed people/companies, limited companies, sole traders etc. This is causing the delay.

Sit tight and dont panic was the message. Dont jump into mortgage holidays or dip into the savings. Should hear something before end of week.
