AC Condenser – Electrical Fault Investigation & Remedial Works ⚡️

During our initial inspection, arcing was identified at the CPC connection within the rotary isolator, raising immediate safety concerns.

Further investigation revealed that the neutral and CPC had been incorrectly terminated at the condenser, resulting in load current flowing through the protective earthing system.

⚠️ This presented a significant electrical safety risk. Under certain fault conditions, an operative in contact with the affected equipment could have provided an alternative return path to earth. Depending on the relative impedance of this path and the existing TN-C-S return path, potentially dangerous current could have passed through an operative resulting in a fatal electric shock.

Remedial works included correcting the wiring configuration, replacing damaged cabling and isolators, and upgrading sections of the installation.

A serious defect highlighting the importance of correct electrical installation, thorough inspection and effective fault diagnosis.
