Today your wholesale and online orders have been packed by Connie.

Connie joined the team almost a year ago. At first she didn’t really do much and she still regularly falls asleep on the job, but somehow she manages to win employee of the month every month. ⭐

(Spot the giant hand holding her up 😘)

Throwback to the time I designed a “knit your own adventure” which followed that classic format of making decisions, flipping through the pages and following the story to knit your own custom monster. 🧶 Did you make one?

I loved the goosebumps choose your own adventures, but mine was much more family friendly. 😘

I would have loved to have been at the this year, but I’m there in spirit as has knitted up a crab from one of my kits found at . 🦀

If you’re visiting today, you can also see my dad singing at the festival as part of at 12:00 and 14:30 at Evington Gardnes, but sadly I couldn’t convince him to sing Rock Lobster. 👀

How one little pattern collection changed my whole business 🌊

I can’t believe it’s been almost 3 years since I released my Besides the Seaside collection. It’s been my most popular book at fairs, I’ve had lots of wholesale orders, made pieces from it for ’s NYC pop up and I still post a bunch of them each week from your online orders.

We created all the elements of this book in-house, I designed the patterns, took all the photos (my degree is in commercial photography, didn’t you know 😜) put the page layouts together and Mr. SL designed the cover.

I’ve made 3 books with traditional publishers and they were great, but, to be honest, this little book has made us a whopping 15 times more money than my first published book (taking into account my advance and royalties).

It’s not quite a fair comparison, but there are different elements we can look at. My first publishers were amazing when it came to promoting my book - it got into lots of newspapers and magazines. I still have people coming up to me saying how they knitted THE fox scarf. I haven’t had that kind of PR for this one, but I’m much more established as a designer and tour it around lots of shows.

I absolutely loved making this collection and you have to thank for it, as it was developed for a very special window takeover at their shop in North Norfolk!

Since making it, I’ve gone on to write Under the Sea and Welcome to the Jungle and I’ve just started work on my next one, if you have any guesses as to where I’m going next? 🏙️

It feels so strange to not be rushing to a show today! After our little spring UK tour I’m not sure what to do with a weekend off, but I’m excited to pick up my needles and start designing again, after quite a big break. 🧶

Now vs a year ago at . Big thanks to everyone who stopped by for a chat, picked a new project and a special green tote.

All your support is extra special, as it helps our lil family - especially as Connie is now eating three meals a day 👀. I’m excited for a break after our mega three shows in a row, and can’t wait to get back to pattern writing.

Thanks to Granny and Grandad for looking after Connie this weekend and to the organisers for putting on such a wonderful yarn show. Hopefully, see you all next year 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
