The difference to the exterior of this Newton Mearns home is quite astonishing 😮.

Triangular glazing and roof lights give this home a modern aesthetic and allow for lots of light to enter the property… not to mention adding some extra space to this property.

✨ GLAZED ROOF LANTERN ✨

You can’t look at this house in Giffnock without paying special attention to that glazed roof lantern! A dormer bungalow got a “glow-up” complete with an extension and creation of a dining kitchen, utility and shower room.

Oh and did I mention that glazed roof lantern?!

I’ve picked these images of an extension I worked on in Waterfoot for three reasons:

1️⃣ The first image shows where the house used to end and now where the extension begins… and how seamless this connection is.

2️⃣ The difference the extension has made to the rear of this property, complete with vaulted ceiling and lantern skylight.

3️⃣ A utility room (shown in the final image) and shower room were also included in this project.

What a difference extension works have made to this home in Milngavie 🤩.

This was a substantial renovation that extended to the rear across both the ground floor and first floor. A new roof slope and dormer were also added.

Often extensions will create additional space to the ground floor of a property… think kitchens, dining spaces and seamless connections to the garden.

Then there are two-storey extensions like this one in Bearsden… and this project was one to remember 💪🏼. Why?

Alongside a rear extension with a zinc dormer, new garage, patio and a new staircase position, this bungalow was given a complete overhaul… think full renovation 🛠️.

The result? A stunning, modern home complete with balcony.

So much to say about this project in Giffnock… so let’s get started!

🏡 How it started:

A dormer bungalow with a rear ground slope that prevented the existing kitchen space from connecting with the garden.

🏡 How it’s going:

A dormer bungalow with a rear extension, where internal walls had been removed to create an open plan dining kitchen space.

The extension creates extra space complete with access to both the basement AND garden. A line of rooflights was also installed, creating a ‘slice of glazing’ that connects the extension with the original house.

A two-storey extension created lots of extra space for this home in Clarkston including an open plan dining kitchen living space and an extra bedroom 🍽️ 🛏️.

The one-storey part of this extension was also built with added height, complete with VELUX windows.

Tip ❗️: Add VELUX windows to enhance light and a sense of space.

Don’t forget about the exterior of an extension!

Standing looking out from this open plan dining kitchen living space in Broomhill, you can see 👀 the landscaping works that were carried out in the garden.

Gorgeous… and the sun ☀️ even made an appearance on photo day too!

A common requirement when it comes to extensions is to create space and enhance natural light.

That was an aim of this extension in Bearsden… and hopefully all those boxes were ticked ☑️ 🏡.
