The presence of Trametes versicolor (Turkey Tail fungus) πŸ¦ƒπŸ„ prompted a formal assessment of the tree’s overall condition. This identified included bark unions of major limbs, extensive decay and cavities within major branches and dieback within the crown.

As a result, a significant canopy reduction was undertaken to reduce end-weight on compromised limbs. This approach helps lower the risk of branch failure and gives the tree a better chance of retention long-term.

This mature Ash tree 🌿🌳 was in decline.

Due to extensive deadwood within the canopy caused by Ash Dieback Disease, the tree posed as a significant hazard to the overhead cables, private road and occupied fishing 🎣 pegs beneath.
The tree was dismantled, leaving an 8ft stem to maintain hedgerow density and privacy.
