Greenspace SOS is a non-profit Community Interest Company dedicated to revitalizing and maintaining green spaces for the benefit of local communities. Our mission is to use

all profits from our garden and estate maintenance services to deliver free services for vulnerable people and groups in our communities, creating significant social value. Our Core Values:
Ethical: We prioritize sustainable practices and zero-emission equipment to minimize our environmental impact. Professional: We bring expertise in horticulture, sustainable landscape maintenance, property development, and project management. Friendly: We foster a positive and collaborative atmosphere in all our interactions. Our Services:
Commercial and Residential Grounds Maintenance: We provide comprehensive services including lawn care, landscaping, hedge trimming, and garden clearances. Our professional and eco-friendly approach ensures well-maintained and inviting outdoor spaces. Community Projects: Through our 'SAVE OUR SPACE!' initiative, we offer free clearance and renovation services to nominated areas. This enables communities to reclaim and repurpose neglected spaces, turning them into functional green areas that provide environmental and health benefits. Impact and Outreach:
Our work focuses on creating multi-functional green spaces that enhance health and well-being, promote active aging, and build resilience against climate change. From sensory gardens to wildlife conservation areas and outdoor classrooms, our projects aim to make a tangible difference in the lives of local residents. Looking Ahead:
We aim to strengthen our partnerships with social housing organizations, local councils, and private enterprises while developing a robust volunteer network. Promoting environmental sustainability and social value remains a core objective; we are committed to zero emissions and educating clients on sustainable practices. To support these initiatives, we aim to secure additional funding, maintain financial stability, and reinvest all profits into free services and community projects. Thank you for supporting Greenspace SOS. Together, we can create a lasting positive impact on our communities through sustainable and ethical green space management. Best regards,

πŸ’š Feel Good Friday Update!!! πŸ’š

The GreenspaceSOS team have recently played our part in a fantastic project designed to bring the local community closer to nature.

We recently had the opportunity to create an accessible pathway through a beautiful wooded area, helping open up the space for the local community, schools, and visitors to better enjoy and connect with nature.

The project was designed to improve accessibility while enhancing opportunities for outdoor learning, wellbeing, and wildlife appreciation.

The works included:

🌳 Installing a new accessible pathway throughout the woodland.

πŸ“š Creating an outdoor classroom for visiting schools and community groups.

πŸ¦‹ Developing a space where children can learn about nature, biodiversity, and local wildlife firsthand.

🚲 Installing bike racks to encourage sustainable travel and improve visitor access.

πŸšͺ Fitting secure gated access points.

🦦 Constructing an otter hide, giving visitors the chance to quietly observe some of the incredible Welsh wildlife found in the area.

Projects like these are what we are all about here at GreenspaceSOS. We’re passionate about creating spaces that make nature more accessible, educational, and enjoyable for everyone. Whether that’s school children experiencing outdoor learning, families exploring local green spaces, or visitors simply taking time to appreciate the environment around them.

Transforming unused spaces into places that support biodiversity, education, and community wellbeing is something we take real pride in, and we’re excited to see this area enjoyed for years to come…

We have some amazing projects coming up as we head into our busiest summer yet so keep your eyes on the team to see what we get up to…

Hope everyone has a fantastic bank holiday weekend.

πŸ’š Feel Good Tuesdays πŸ’š

A few weeks ago we had the pleasure of helping the volunteers at St Peter’s Church in Cockett, who give their time to keep the church grounds looking so well cared for.

One of the best parts of the day was seeing generations working side by side with one of our GreenspaceSOS operatives being 19 years old, while one of the church volunteers is in their 80s.

Over tea, cake and a good chat, we enjoyed listening to their wisdom, humour and years of experience. In return, we shared some advice on newer machinery that could help make maintaining the grounds a little easier.

The volunteers were especially interested in the electric equipment we were using. Having mainly used petrol tools, they were fascinated by the quieter, cleaner battery-powered kit.

That conversation stayed with us when we left, so today we were delighted to return to the church with a newly purchased electric mower, strimmer, batteries and a few extra bits to help them continue the fantastic work they do.

A small gesture for people doing something really valuable for the local community.

The GreenspaceSOS team have been out and about delivering our free services within the communities we serve this week and are proud to have supported St Peter’s Church in Cockett Swansea by helping their dedicated team of volunteers tackle some of the overgrowth around their grounds.

We were blown away by the work the volunteers do on the grounds with one of the youngest volunteers on the day being in their early 70’s and the most senior team member being 82!!!

We were equally as blown away with the stunning cakes we were treated with πŸ˜‹β€¦ Some beautiful homemade Bara Brith cake with Welsh cakes to go with a nice cuppa to keep the energy up 🍰 β˜•οΈ

If you’d like to find out more about helping out with this great group of volunteers there is more information at www.cockettparish.org.uk

Projects like this are made possible thanks to the generous support of organisations such as the The Swansea Bay Foundation who enable us to provide our services and equip ourselves with the right tools and PPE to carry out the work safely and effectively.

This week we are excited to have started work on what will be a new Community Garden at KPC Youth Centre in Pyle 😁 The staff and children at the centre communicated a need for some outdoor, nature-based activities and learning. Music to our ears πŸŒ±πŸŒΏπŸŽΆπŸ‘‚πŸ˜Š

The garden will include new fencing, raised planters, a polytunnel, water conservation butts, a roofed gazebo with seating, a storage shed, composting facilities, a healthy diversity of sensory and pollinator-friendly planting, and whatever else tickles our fancy. Any existing raised planters in good condition will stay and get some SOS TLC.

We would like to offer our gratitude to The National Lottery Community Fund/ Cronfa Gymunedol y Loteri Genedlaethol who are generously funding the project, to Luke and the team at Nottage Timber & Joinery LTD for helping us with timber and materials, and
to Sam, Amanda, and all the staff and children at KPC for their kind hospitality and help in designing what will be a beautiful, functional, nature-based greenspace, for the next generation of greenspace DIYers and SOSers to enjoy
