🌎🌎Fluorescent lighting and your carbon footprint🌎🌎

From September 2023, fluorescent lighting is now no longer being made.

Whilst you will still be able to buy fluorescent lights in wholesalers and other electrical stores, they are no longer being produced.

The Restriction of Hazardous Substances directive has now focused on mercury and this no longer being available.

Fluorescent lights contain mercury in the vapour that is within the tube and this ignites to create light via a coating on the tube.

If you have these types of lights in your home, garages and / or sheds, then now may be the time to consider replacing these for LED lights.

The impact is not only greater energy efficiency, but reductions in costs and your carbon footprint.

The carbon dioxide produced by LED lights is approximately 500 lbs per year, whilst fluorescent type lights produced more than double this per year.

Every little bit helps! If you have these type of lights in your home contact me for a no obligation quote and improve your lighting and do your part towards a greener planet 🌎 🌎🌎.

A garden overhaul for with palm trees and new lighting for the patio area.
🌴🌴
We have used a switch to allow switching from the house and to avoid any damage to the house after recent work.
🌴🌴
A few issues during the overhaul including the gardener burying some of the cables ‘somewhere’ and not being able to find them all.
🌴🌴
A few more lights to put up on the house and also to sort out the soffit lights on the garage

A few little jobs today finishing off some bits, new outside lights and sockets and we also installed this ambulance charger for a private medical service.
🟢
It was something different to a EV charger and I was well looked after.👍👍👍

Couple of weekend call outs.
⚫️.
The first was the socket circuit not working and the customer wasn’t sure why.
⚫️.
After some brief investigation we came across this socket where the electric heater was still plugged into it.
⚫️.
The second call out was the bathroom lights were momentarily turning on before the lighting circuit cut out.
⚫️.
We found these bad boys above the shower and bath. They’d over heated and the cable had melted. ⚫️.
The customer had recently insulated the loft space to make sure that any heat was not escaping and the insulation had fallen onto the light fittings causing the heat damage to the cable.
⚫️.
I’ll be back to install 2 new fire rated lights.
⚫️.
