Today has been a terribly sad day for all of us at Alder Garden Services Ltd.

Today we lost an integral member of our team. Our HR, our payrol, our clerk of works, our mascot, our constant and our best friend Oakey has fallen asleep peacefully and journeyed over the rainbow bridge.

Our thanks to every client, every supplier, every follower and everyone that came into contact with Oakey and inevitably fell in love with him.

The goodest of good boys, who will be missed deeply everyday.

A great garden supports nature too. And there are many ways to do it.

🦋Pollinator-friendly planting helps create outdoor spaces that benefit wildlife as well as our clients.

💧 Water features provide vital habitats and water sources for animals. Even a simple water bowl is suffice.

🌺 Wild flower meadows are a great habitat for many small insects.

🌳 Keep your trees and hedges to provide vital shelter for birds and small mammals

🪵 Make a log pile for insects.

🦔 Keep a small part of your boundary open to allow hedgehogs to roam. Like a ‘hedgehog highway’ so to speak.

We’re all to aware that sometimes clients are keen to introduce plenty of patio space, which of course is necessary to enjoy the garden, but there’s a balance to be had. We like to encourage some of the above to allow nature to sit alongside us.
