πŸ€ FARM RODENT CONTROL πŸ€

Another successful evening spent helping a local farm keep rodent numbers under control and protecting valuable feed stores, livestock housing, machinery, and farm infrastructure.

Rodents are far more than just a nuisance on farms. Left unchecked, they can cause significant financial losses and pose serious risks to both livestock and human health.

πŸ“ Equipment Used:
β€’ AirMaksKatran .22
β€’ Nocpix BOLT L35R Thermal Scope
β€’ Nocpix Vista Thermal Monocular
β€’ Manbily.hunting Tripod
β€’ JSB EXACT Jumbo Heavy Pellets

Why is rodent control essential on UK farms?

βœ… Rats and mice contaminate feed with urine, droppings, and hair.
βœ… They can spread diseases that affect livestock, pets, and humans.
βœ… Rodents damage insulation, timber, and electrical wiring, increasing the risk of costly repairs and fire hazards.
βœ… Feed losses can quickly mount up through both consumption and contamination.
βœ… With their rapid breeding cycle, a small rodent issue can soon become a large-scale infestation.

Effective rodent management is about more than simply reducing numbers. It's about safeguarding livestock welfare, protecting feed stocks, preventing damage, and maintaining the smooth operation of your farm.

If you're seeing signs of rodent activity around feed stores, grain sheds, livestock buildings, or machinery yards, TTOCS Pest Control Ltd can provide a tailored rodent control programme to suit your requirements.

Struggling with Rats Around Your Bins? πŸ€

Overflowing waste isn't always the problem. One of the most common reasons rats gain access to commercial bins is through damaged or missing rubber bungs in the base of the container.

These small openings provide easy access to food and shelter, allowing rats to feed directly from your waste bins and establish themselves around your premises.

We can supply and fit replacement bungs for Biffa and many other commercial waste bins, helping to reduce rodent access and improve site hygiene.

Whether you run a restaurant, retail unit, warehouse, farm, industrial estate, or office complex, we can help keep your site protected.

Have you noticed sunken block paving, small holes appearing between the joints, or piles of loose soil around your driveway or patio?

It could be a sign of rats burrowing underneath.

The Norway rat is a natural burrowing animal and will dig extensive tunnel systems beneath sheds, patios, driveways, gardens, and block paving. These burrows provide shelter, protection from predators, and a safe place to raise their young.

A single rat burrow can extend several metres underground, weakening the ground beneath and causing paving slabs and block paving to sink or become unstable over time.

If you've spotted signs of rat activity around your property, don't ignore it. The sooner the problem is dealt with, the easier it is to prevent further damage and stop the population growing.

πŸ“ž Need help with rats on your property, farm, business, or home?

TTOCS Pest Control Ltd provides professional rodent control and proofing solutions to get infestations under control quickly and effectively.

Egg production down? The problem might not be your birds...

Constant rodent activity around poultry units can cause stress to hens, leading to reduced laying rates, lower feed efficiency, and unnecessary losses.

But that's not all. Rats are opportunistic feeders and will happily target eggs as a food source. Watch closely and you'll see just how determined they are – rats are capable of rolling eggs away from nest boxes and feeding areas to consume them in safety.

A single pair of rats can quickly turn into a major infestation, contaminating feed, spreading disease, damaging buildings, and costing poultry keepers money every day.

If you've noticed fewer eggs than normal, signs of feed loss, droppings, burrows, or rodent activity around your poultry sheds, it may be time to take action.

TTOCS Pest Control Ltd offers professional rodent control for farms, smallholdings, poultry units, and agricultural businesses across the region.

This commercial premises in Warrington presented a challenge, as the suspended ceiling had no existing access points into the roof void. To allow the treatment programme to begin, a roof access hatch was installed, providing safe access for inspection, monitoring and control measures.

As this is a retail premises, the customer was keen to avoid the use of rodenticides. A previous pest control contractor had relied on poison treatments, which resulted in dead rats being left in inaccessible areas, causing ongoing issues for the business.

Instead, we have implemented a control strategy, with traps deployed and a monitoring camera installed within the roof space. Within the first few hours, rats were already recorded moving across the roof beams, confirming active rodent activity and helping us identify key travel routes.

Monitoring will continue, allowing us to target the infestation effectively while avoiding the risks associated with rodents dying in inaccessible voids.

Proofing work will be carried out once we get a greater understanding of the rodents activity.

Another successful bumble bee relocation completed today in Warrington 🐝

The customer contacted us after her son had been clearing out the garden shed and accidentally disturbed a nest of bumble bees hidden inside. Thankfully nobody was badly stung, but with children regularly around the property they wanted the nest safely removed.

Rather than destroy the colony, we carefully relocated the bumble bees to a private woodland area where they can continue to thrive naturally without causing any risk to the family.

Bumble bees are an important pollinator in the UK and whenever possible we always aim for safe relocation over destruction.

If you’ve found a bee nest on your property and aren’t sure what to do, feel free to get in touch for safe relocation of bee across Warrington, Widnes & Runcorn πŸ“ž

A report was received from New Romney, Kent on 22 May from householders. The hornet was captured and killed.

A householder reported and captured a hornet in Charing, Ashford, Kent on 24 May in a shed. The shed will be inspected further to check for a possible embryo nest.

Two sightings were reported in Rother, East Sussex. One hornet was captured by a beekeeper, and the other was reported by a householder but escaped alive.

We do not plan to take further action, but local Yellow-Legged Asian Hornet teams may wish to monitor the area.
