Great to be back at project yesterday checking out the beautiful borders and adding even more perennials for the new season. A very typical May mix of sunshine and showers made for great conditions for the plants (if not the team ☺️). It may have been suits and champagne at Chelsea, but it was waterproofs and tea in Warwickshire!

Has the sunshine got you thinking about your garden’s unrealised potential? 🤔

We’re a Warwickshire-based, family-run business that works with a small number of clients every year on meaningful, bespoke projects. Each one starts with a cuppa and a chat with James.

Our designs aren’t off-the-shelf or lifted from templates - they are completely tailored to how our clients live, entertain and relax. We take your vision and add our extensive knowledge of landscaping, materials, horticulture and inside/outside flow, and give every project our full attention from start to finish.

Drop us a message if you’d like to chat through what’s possible with your space.

We look forward to helping you create something special this summer; a lush and beautiful outdoor setting to unwind and make memories in ✨

Dream gardens start with meticulous planning and the careful selection of materials. We choose for style, durability and sustainability, working with the UK’s foremost porcelain, clay, metal and stone suppliers to specify hard landscaping elements that not only look beautiful but will also stand the test of time.

How the landscaping interacts with the planting is one of the most exciting parts of garden design: traditionally the ‘hard’ elements provided form and stability while the ‘soft’ elements brought movement, colour and seasonal change. But with such a range available, paving and building materials can now bring just as much colour and texture to a garden as the planting scheme.

A weekend of sunshine and the pots and borders are suddenly bursting into colour again. Now’s a good time to identify and fill any gaps in your beds - which you can do without having to buy new plants. Established perennials like geum, nepeta and hardy geranium can be lifted, divided and replanted to even out your borders. They don’t mind being moved at this stage in the season (plus you can do it without accidentally digging out any bulbs!) 🌺

Exciting to see lots of progress at project - and the sunshine has been an added bonus! The estate fencing and hedging boundaries which divide the different garden ‘rooms’ are in, and work continues apace on the front brick paving. All traces of the old garden have been removed and the structure of the new design is taking shape. A busy site, with lots more to come 💪

Now’s a good time to prune your hydrangeas if you left the dried flowerheads on for winter interest (and sheltering wildlife). Look at those green leaf buds are starting to pop! You can prune down to the first healthy pair on macrophylla varieties, taking out any dead or crossing stems at ground level to make more room for this summer’s blooms. Hydrangea arborescens, on the other hand, which include varieties like ‘Incrediball’ (a stronger-stemmed ‘Annabelle’) can be cut back quite hard - the lower you go, the bigger this year’s flowerheads will be!

We’re very excited to have broken ground on Project Linea, an Isola-designed garden which will transform our client’s large open space into a series of distinct garden ‘rooms’.

The first stage involves creating the room boundaries in beech hedging and traditional metal fencing. The guys have been busy planting hundreds of bare-root beech whips and moving existing hedges before the plants wake up from winter dormancy.

Our friends Roger Frogley & Sons Fencing made a start on the estate fencing, which will be painted black when it’s fully installed.

At the front of the property, we’re reconfiguring the sweeping gravel drive, adding a brick-paved surround and planting mature Ilex ‘Nellie Stevens’ holly trees.

We can’t wait to show you more as the transformation unfolds!

Hellebores are at their absolute peak just now, bringing colour to the garden and much-needed nectar for early pollinators. They’re famously temperamental as a cut flower, but you can enjoy them up-close by floating a few heads in a shallow bowl like water lilies.
