I received my Plumbing certificates today!

Proof of the work I did through Years 1-3 of my apprenticeship🥳

And as I’m due in hospital for a tonsillectomy on Monday, it’s going to put me out of college & work for a few weeks - so today I sat all 3 of my final gas exams…

AND PASSED🤩

So I have now passed all 8 of my theory exams and I’m one step closer to being fully qualified!

Been a bit quiet on here lately, but for a good reason!

I’ve been fully focused on my written gas exams which started early March and require 100% for a pass. I’ve completed 4/8 of them so far - and currently doing really well in them!😁

I’ve also just completed a Gas Boiler Fault Finding & Repair training course with Worcester Bosch, building even more hands-on knowledge to give the best service possible👩🏻‍🔧

Boiler service the other day🔧

Drained the system and recharged the expansion vessel, but had no water coming through the filling loop.

Disconnected the inlet pipe… completely blocked with stones😳

Flushed it through and got everything back up and running ✅

Not something you see every day!

Two boilers, two different fixes!👩🏻‍🔧

First job: Tackling a Pressure Relief Valve (PRV) swap. If your boiler is losing pressure or leaking from that copper pipe outside, this is usually the culprit💧

Second job: An EA error code on this Worcester. Diagnosed a worn out ignition electrode - swapped it for a new one and the boiler is firing up perfectly now!🔥

Today’s jobs:
• What started as a boiler service turned into a critical safety fix. A gas leak was found when performing our gas tightness test, the leaking section (pictured) was removed and new pipework fitted to make it gas tight!

• Diagnosed a radiator that wouldn’t heat up. The culprit? A seized TRV pin stuck in the off position. I freed the pin, restoring full heat to the home🔥

Not your everyday job😅

Customer had a leak on their water main hiding under the concrete garage floor. After a fair bit of digging (over 1m down in the garden), we tracked down the incoming supply from the water meter.

Cut out the old leaking pipe, ran a new blue MDPE pipe under the paving and connected it through into the garage. New internal stop tap fitted, existing cold feeds reconnected and the old redundant pipework cut back and sealed off.

Once everything was tested and leak-free, the trench was refilled and soil reinstated so the garden was left tidy again 🌱

Messy job, solid fix 💪💧

Converting from an old towns gas boiler to a more efficient system using the Worcester Condens 7000.

Piped up the pool filtration system to the new heating system by lifting a slab and running protected copper pipes from the boiler room to the pool shed.

Gas was previously costing the customer £54 a day on the towns gas boiler. After converting their system they are now down to 9p a day!!

(Working with employer on gas/heating installations until I am qualified to do so independently)
