Meet John and Tony, the directors and founders of Gas Mark 1. Their story began back in 1978 when they met at Francis Combe secondary school in Watford. After leaving school they joined British Gas as apprentice gas engineers and went on to spend 8 years working as heating engineers there.
They decided to take the leap and start a business of their own so in 1993 Gas Mark 1 was born.
2 friends, a wealth of engineers’ experience and determination to build a business, based on customer satisfaction and value for money, has grown into what you see today.
From the first showroom on St Albans Road to our current 8000square foot space on Market Street, John and Tony have continued to be hands on and passionate about the team around them.
They’ve always believed in investing in people. Their first apprentice Darren is still with the company and every one of our current engineers started their career with us.
30 years on John and Tony are still part of the day to day business, working alongside their team of around 40 staff, looking ahead to the next chapter.
