During the lockdowns AB Solutions have been working to ensure that our clients have been able to access emergency support during this difficult period. Our engineers have been supplying and fitting white goods including washing machines, cookers and Fridges to young families with children. The industrial/commercial team have been making sure that our clients that are working from their offices can access our emergency team during this difficult period ensuring they can continue to produce product.

Electrical Inspection and Portable Appliance Testing
Throughout the lockdown period, AB Solutions have continued providing emergency support to its customer base, The Electrical Inspection and Portable Appliance Testing department have been supporting a wide range of clients covering the industrial and commercial sectors making sure that their electrical systems have been kept in a first-class condition during the lockdown, another major area of support has been and still is providing an emergency testing and rectification service to landlords and letting agents enabling them to provide tenancies to keyworkers and supporting many homeless families move into new homes.

A spokesperson for the company said " for many of the new tenants it is the first long term home they have had for a number of years and it is important that the home meets the highest electrical standards. This has meant we have had to introduce new working practices ensuring that not only are our operatives are protected against Coronavirus but also everyone else we deal with on a daily basis".

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR ESTATE AGENTS LETTING AGENCIES AND PRIVATE LANDLORDS

A B Solutions have designated team with many years of experience working with landlords and Letting Agencies and have a dedicated team of fully qualified engineers who are able to implement the following new regulations for electrical safety.

From 1 July 2020, all new private tenancies in England will need to ensure that electrical installations are inspected and tested by a qualified person before the tenancy begins. The landlord will then need to ensure that the installation is inspected and tested at least every five years – and more often if the most recent safety report requires it.

For existing tenancies, an electrical safety test will need to be carried out by 1 April 2021, with regular tests following this as outlined above.

The regulations will apply to all properties across the private rented sector, including houses in multiple occupation (HMOs), These regulations will replace the existing requirements for HMOs regarding electrical installation testing and

A ‘qualified person’ for the purposes of these regulations is a person competent to undertake the inspection and testing required and any further investigative or remedial work in accordance with the electrical safety standards.

Local authorities can impose a financial penalty of up to £30,000 for a breach of the regulations. Where there are multiple breaches, the local authority can impose multiple penalties.

We have recently successfully completed a major PAT program for a leading retail outlet and followed on from a contract with a leading computer services company both contracts required them to carry out the testing during the night. The testing required them to undertake to test in security-sensitive areas and included computer-based network systems.
