After four years of dedicated work, we are delighted to have secured planning permission for three bespoke dwellings near Taunton. Replacing an existing dwelling, the proposal makes efficient use of the site to deliver a collection of executive homes set within a landscaped environment that embraces the surrounding rural views.
The siting, form, and layout of the buildings have been carefully developed in response to the site’s natural characteristics and constraints. Mature hedgerows and trees have been retained to preserve the existing landscape character. The material palette features red brick, timber cladding, and zinc or grass roof, which have been chosen to reference both local residential and agricultural architecture, and to weather gracefully over time.
Each home has been designed around generous entrance halls with double-height spaces, creating a strong sense of arrival. Plots 1 and 2 share a common design language, offering expansive open-plan kitchen, dining, and living areas complemented by separate snugs and sitting rooms. Practical spaces, including utility and boot rooms, support the main living areas. The first floors accommodate four to five bedrooms, each with en-suites, dressing areas, and studies.
Plot 3 is sensitively integrated into the hillside, responding to the site’s topography. The entrance level features a gym, swimming pool, and a large reception area leading up to the principal living spaces. The upper floor enjoys direct garden access and provides single-storey living, with the kitchen, dining, and bedroom areas positioned to take advantage of elevated views across the landscape.
All three dwellings feature shared surface parking and double garages.
