Works are underway at Holy Trinity Church, Minchinhampton, to conserve the south transept window with its amazing oculus tracery. The Hardman glass, which has lost much of its fired painted detail, will be conserved and an interactive display screen installed below with lost detail enhanced to demonstrate how the window would have appeared when new, and the imagery depicted. The project also involves masonry repair and cleaning, and conservation of the mortuary tombs below.

Some close-up photos of the 15thC glass from St Julitta’s Church, Lanteglos by Camelford. These remarkable figures have been removed from the church for conservation works as part of our ongoing project which also includes extensive masonry works, ferramenta treatment and plain glazing conservation throughout the church. The grade 1 listed church sits near the foot of a secluded valley, a brook running through the rolling church yard - a Cornish idyll well worth a visit!

The late 13th century glass at St Wilfrid’s Chapel, Brougham, Cumbria.

We recently reinstated the glazing after a 6 month conservation programme, working alongside The Churches Conservation Trust and Crosby Granger Architects . The medieval glazing has suffered from a condition known as manganese browning, whereby the glass becomes opaque due to oxidisation of manganese in the body of the glass.

Works included design and installation of an environmental protective glazing layer, alongside a wider programme of historic building works aimed at improving the (extremely damp!) environmental conditions within the building.

Here are some photos from our recent project to conserve the staircase window at the Elizabethan House Museum. It has a fantastic collection of 16th and 17th century glass from Germany and the Low Countries, as well as a late 15th century depiction of St George and the dragon.

The glass has been conserved and a bronze environmental protective glazing screen manufactured and installed to preserve the glass for future generations

We are currently working on the 13thC stained glass from Dronfield Parish Church, which houses some of Derbyshire’s rarest and best preserved medieval glass. The surviving glass is wonderfully varied, from figurative windows to monkeys, and roundels of musicians 🐒🪕🦉
