Carried out an emergency callout for a door entry system fault at my old college where i qualified as an electrician. The place has been converted into luxury apartments! Looks ace but such a shame, had some good memories here.

Home Buyers Beware

There were nearly 2 million residential sales in the UK in 2016-17. However, research carried out by Electrical Safety First found that only 37% of buyers had the electrics checked before purchase. One in five believed that electrical checks were included in the recommended home survey report and just under half were unaware that checks were needed at all.

Over a third of home buyers then went on to discover electrical problems that they were not aware of before purchase - something that could easily be avoided by getting a registered electrician to inspect the electrics and issue an Electrical Installation Condition Report.

Aesthetically i like the look of this but it looks like it could break easily. Personally I prefer the chunky plug we have now. What are your thoughts on this new U.K plug design?

The show-stopper at this year’s Royal College of Art graduate show was a plug. About time someone tackled the UK’s clunky electrics.

Our application for the accreditations was driven by the need for a uniform standard across the business and to protect our employees and those of our customers when working on site.

These schemes are used by many large organisations as a way of identifying a suitable and competent contractor. With more than 210 major clients and over 20,000 contractor members

They are all leading third party accreditation schemes, which recognises high standards in health and safety management amongst UK contractors.

Large organisations cannot take the risk of employing a contractor that is unable to demonstrate a high standard of working. The accreditations will serve to reassure any new customers that we understand the importance and value of adopting good risk management strategy.

To qualify for the three seperate schemes, we underwent stringent vetting processes to examine our health and safety procedures and our track record for safe practice. We were able to pass this vetting process, meeting the high standard required to be included on a database of accredited contractors accessible to registered users only via their website

Organisations that sign up to the scheme can access the database to vet potential contractors before they even set foot on site. These clients agree that, as users of the scheme, they will engage only those who have received the SafeContractor, Construction line and Chas accreditation

We are pleased that as a result of being awarded this accreditation, we not only reassure existing customers, but will also have increased opportunities to work with new customers that find us on the database.
