⚡ Industrial Floor Transformation – Power Capacitors, Birmingham

Complete workshop floor refurbishment carried out at Power Capacitors in Birmingham.
The existing concrete was heavily worn and damaged, so our works included:
Removal of damaged and defective areas
Epoxy mortar repairs
Full mechanical diamond grinding to open the concrete substrate
Application of WD epoxy primer
100% solids epoxy coating in Mid Grey
Anti-slip aggregate incorporated and back-rolled into the finish
Yellow safety demarcation and designated pedestrian walkways
The result is a hard-wearing, easy-to-maintain industrial floor with clearly defined pedestrian areas, improving both the appearance and safety of the working environment.

This project took us to Utranazz Group, one of the UK's leading suppliers of concrete mixers, pumps, screed pumps and specialist equipment for the concrete industry.
We carried out the complete floor refurbishment, including:

Another successful balcony refurbishment completed by Shier Coatings Ltd.
This balcony had extensive cracking and deterioration, requiring a full preparation and waterproofing system to ensure a long-lasting finish.
Scope of works:
✔ Full diamond grinding to remove weak material and create a mechanical key.
✔ All damaged and cracked areas repaired.
✔ DPM primer applied to repaired areas.
✔ Fully blinded with kiln-dried aggregate for maximum adhesion.
✔ Self-levelling screed applied to restore levels.
✔ Screeded areas mechanically prepared using an STR once cured.
✔ Full liquid DPM applied across the entire balcony.
✔ Aquadec Cementos anti-slip coating installed.
✔ Finished with a durable grey sealer coat for UV stability and long-term protection.

Breaking away from grey... and we absolutely love it! ✨
This week we completed something a little different – a bespoke blush pink glitter flake resin floor with five holographic glitter colours blended throughout the finish.
Not every resin floor has to be grey! This project proves you can have a floor that's hard-wearing, seamless and practical, while still making a real statement.
The preparation was just as important as the finish. We mechanically ground the existing weak tamped concrete, removing 7 bags of dust and laitance before installing the new system. That's the difference proper preparation makes.

Milton Keynes Bottling Factory – Safety Demarcation & Walkway Refurbishment

Shier Coatings Ltd completed a full safety demarcation and walkway refurbishment project within a busy bottling facility.
Scope of Works
Mechanical preparation of all concrete substrates.
Resin high-build anti-slip coating applied to pedestrian walkways.
Aggregate incorporated into the system to improve slip resistance.
Pallet storage bay refurbished using a rapid-curing MMA system to minimise downtime.
Safety line marking installed throughout.
One-way forklift traffic management system introduced using directional arrows and colour-coded demarcation.
Designated pallet storage bays clearly defined for improved housekeeping and operational efficiency.

Full HGV yard safety upgrade completed with a new pedestrian zebra crossing system installed to improve site safety and traffic awareness.
The existing surface was fully mechanically prepared to ensure proper adhesion, followed by primer application before installing high-visibility neon MMA cold plastic line marking for the zebra crossing.
These new pedestrian walkways and crossing points now give drivers a much clearer visual warning of pedestrian movement throughout the yard, helping bring the area up to a safer working standard for both staff and vehicle operators.
This one was completed over the weekend in challenging 28°C heat, which made the MMA products harder to control and apply due to the fast cure times, but the team pushed through and delivered the project on programme.

Walkway Refurbishment – St George’s Hospital, Tooting (Wimbledon)
This one was all about getting the preparation right in a live, high-traffic environment.
The existing walkway had worn through, so we followed an STR specification to properly key the surface using a buffer-type sanding process. We also carried out a light grind above spec in areas to ensure a consistent mechanical key across the slab.
🔧 System:
• STR mechanical key preparation
• WD primer
• Fast-set polyaspartic coating system (green)
• EP line marking for high-visibility yellow demarcation
The result is a clean, durable walkway with strong adhesion and a fast turnaround, ideal for environments where downtime needs to be kept to a minimum.
