Beijer Ref Academy The Beijer Ref Academies showcase the very latest in sustainable refrigeration products. Understanding people is also a key part of our everyday life.

The Beijer Ref Academies are dedicated refrigeration training centres offering practical workshops that cover in-depth product training and industry recognised courses including refrigerant handling, brazing and electrical testing. These include a CO2 ‘pack’ connected to refrigerated cases and evaporators which replicate a typical retail environment. Plus CO2 & A2L packaged condensing unit systems and a CO2 air to water heat pump, all fully operational. The Beijer Ref Academies are managed by experienced refrigeration engineers with a wealth of industry and product knowledge with a passion to share it. Courses have been constructed by engineers for engineers offering more ‘hands on’ training than ‘PowerPoint’

Working closely with the manufacturers of refrigeration equipment the Beijer Ref Academies offer Factory Approved training which should give you peace of mind knowing that only the best training is provided. The Beijer Ref Academies are both City and Guilds and BESA approved and can offer all the ‘standard’ training courses. The Beijer Ref Academies recognise the need for non-product specific training. With this in mind we have introduced the ‘Chameleon’ module which is designed to help you and your team understand themselves and their colleagues to develop a more respectful and productive working relationship. Bespoke training courses are a key element to the Beijer Ref Academies portfolio. You may need additional coaching in a certain area not normally covered by training centres, or you may feel your team needs refresher courses on certain topics. The Beijer Ref Academies are here to help and willing to tailor make a course to suit your needs.

The occasion was made even more special for everyone at the Beijer Ref Academy, as our National Training Manager, Assessor and IQA, Ian Lemmon F.Inst.R, received a certificate of Outstanding Contribution in recognition of his continued support and dedication to WorldSkills UK .

Ian has worked tirelessly to share his knowledge, skills and experience, helping to inspire and develop the next generation of industry professionals.

We are incredibly fortunate to have Ian as part of our team, and it was wonderful to see his hard work and commitment recognised.

A sincere thank you to BESA and its President, Anna Shephard, for this thoughtful recognition. It means a great deal to Ian and to all of us at the Beijer Ref Academy .

Well done, Ian - a very well-deserved recognition!

At the BESA Conference tomorrow, the Beijer Ref Academy is swapping the traditional seminar for something a little more hands-on.

Our live Refrigeration Controls Wiring Challenge will see six competitors put their practical skills to the test, correctly wiring a refrigeration system controller in front of a live audience.

But you don’t have to just watch! 👀

We’ll be inviting conference attendees to get involved, have a go and test their own wiring knowledge throughout the event.

It’s a great opportunity to brush up on refrigeration control circuits, practise real-world wiring and troubleshooting skills, and see hands-on training in action.

Whether you’re an apprentice, experienced engineer or simply keen to test your knowledge, come along and give it a go!

Skills in Action at the BESA Conference

On 22nd October, the Beijer Ref Academy will be bringing hands-on learning to the BESA Conference with our live Refrigeration Controls Wiring Challenge.

Six competitors will put their practical skills to the test by wiring a refrigeration system controller to a solenoid valve, coil, and HP/LP pressure switch – all in front of a live audience.

Developed to support preparation for the WorldSkills UK Finals, the challenge will showcase real-world wiring and troubleshooting skills and highlight the importance of practical training in securing the future of the HVACR industry.

And it’s not just for competitors – conference attendees will have the chance to test their wiring knowledge, too!

Want to see where the training happens?

At Beijer Ref Academy, our facilities are designed to provide learners with hands-on access to HVACR technology in a practical, real-world environment.

That means experienced trainers, specialist equipment, and the opportunity to develop skills on the technologies engineers increasingly need to understand, from refrigeration and air conditioning to heat pumps and natural refrigerants.

At the BESA Conference, you can take a virtual tour of our academies and discover what training with Beijer Ref Academy looks like.

The HVACR landscape is changing.

Let’s chat about what that means for your business.

Decarbonisation, heat pumps, refrigerant transition, natural refrigerants and evolving compliance requirements are all changing the skills our industry needs.

At Beijer Ref Academy, we provide accredited, specialist training designed to turn those challenges into practical capabilities.

If you’re attending the BESA Annual Conference, come and tell us what you’re working on, where you see skills gaps and what training your team needs next.
