Another Bee colony safely removed from a customer’s chimney.

After recently purchasing the property the homeowner didn’t realise the house came with over 50,000 sitting tenants!

As the property survey was carried out over winter the surveyor wouldn’t have been aware of the bee colony within the chimney stack however, on assessment it appears the bees had been here for several years meaning the previous owners probably did but decided not to mention them!

The new homeowner would regularly find bees within the living area together with a sweet, sickly smell.

It was decided to gather up the bees and relocate them to somewhere more suitable for both the property owner and the bees.

The bees were hoovered up in our home made, low powered (as to not hurt the bees) nuc box system, this nuc box provides the bees with a good temporary home until a permanent hive is found.

AgriPest are on our 4th relocation job this week with another interesting project tomorrow.

Loading up for another night managing Yorkshires pests.

Tonight the AgriPest A team will be conducting a thermal drone survey above 350 acres of land that belongs to a private school.

The school have noticed an increase in the number of rabbits digging in and around the school’s buildings, running tracks and playing fields causing significant damage to the land.

To manage any pest species effectively you must first understand how many of the particular pest species you are dealing with, once this is determined you know how many should be culled to ensure the treatment’s success.

This is why we utilise the latest thermal technology including drones to establish numbers.

Tonight, once we have established the extent of the rabbit population we will begin the cull utilising our ATV to provide ease of access, safe shooting platform and swift movement around the site ensuring our time is utilised efficiently.

Another successful honey bee removal treatment 🍯 🐝
This colony of honey bees had been established in the disused chimney stack for over 8 years!
Needless to say a significant number of honeybees were safely removed with approximately 20kg of honeycomb.

The Role:

As a Pest Control Technician, you will be responsible for inspecting, treating, and preventing pest infestations while delivering a high standard of service to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough inspections to identify pest activity and entry points
• Carry out pest control treatments for rodents, insects, birds, and other pests using approved methods
• Install and maintain traps, bait stations, and proofing solutions
• Develop tailored pest management plans for clients
• Complete detailed service reports and maintain accurate records
• Provide expert advice to clients on pest prevention and safety
• Ensure all equipment is maintained and used safely
• Carry out contract inspections and routine maintenance on various sites
• Participate in evening and night shooting when required
• Confidently promote and recommend suitable products and services to clients

Requirements:

• Previous pest control experience is preferred, although full training can be provided for the right candidate looking to start a career within the industry
• Relevant pest control qualifications/certifications or willingness to work towards obtaining them
• FAC licence (Fi****ms Certificate) or willingness to obtain one
• Full UK driving licence (must be able to travel to Wetherby daily)
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Physically fit and comfortable working in varied indoor and outdoor environments
• Good understanding of the countryside and farming practices
• Professional, trustworthy, punctual, and well-presented
