A recent EV job requiring extra protection using PEN fault detection. Certain earthing arrangements require additional fault protection, PEN fault devices continuously monitor the supply by checking the voltage between live, neutral, and earth. If a fault condition is detected, the device disconnects the charger within seconds, protecting users and preventing the vehicle chassis from becoming live. ⚡️🚗🔌⚡️

⚡️⚡️⚡️A lightning strike hit three houses away, melting lighting cables, blowing the WiFi and smart thermostat, and leaving a lightning mark on a backbox. This house fared better than others where sockets were blown off walls. Such damage can be prevented with surge protection devices (SPDs) in the consumer unit, which divert abnormal voltage surges and protect electronics from transient voltages.
