I will be sharing quotes and sharing useful information for those going through all stages and types of Grief. Raising awareness for charities and services that can help those going through Grief and Bereavement. "Grief is just love with nowhere to go"

"Giving a voice to grief and recovery"

My Name is Hannah and I am 23 years old, in 2017 I started volunteering in an end of life care setting (M

yton Hospice) supporting patients and their family and friends through their hardest and darkest days whilst losing a loved one. I pride myself on trying to make a difference to the lives of others. I am extremely passionate about raising awareness and helping others through their own personal journey, paving their own path through the emotions that come with grief and loss. Luckily I can also make a difference in my day job within the NHS. Story 1 : I had a visitor who had two small children with her, as she was spending time with her terminally ill husband. She needed support to look after her children, I could sense her grief and distress, so I offered a helping hand. I sat them down in the reception area with some paper and crayons and played with them whilst she spent precious time alone with her husband, to see that I had brought comfort to her and her children made me thankful that I could make a small difference, which I have found is often all it takes. Providing support to people at this traumatic time requires on occasions a great deal of tact and diplomacy, my personality has enabled people to take me into their confidence with ease. Story 2 : At one of the hospice's fundraising events, I met a lady whose husband had spent his last days at the inpatient unit, she embraced me and thanked me profusely and gave me her hand made butterfly headband, which I still have. I must admit the sharing of mutual respect gave me a great deal of satisfaction and knowing I had made a difference no matter how small was one of the best feelings in the world. It’s the emotional suffering you feel when something or someone you love is taken away. Often, the pain of loss can feel overwhelming. You may experience all kinds of difficult and unexpected emotions, from shock or anger to disbelief, guilt, and profound sadness. The pain of grief can also disrupt your physical health, making it difficult to sleep, eat, or even think straight. These are normal reactions to loss—and the more significant the loss, the more intense your grief will be. Coping with the loss of someone or something you love is one of life’s biggest challenges. You may associate grieving with the death of a loved one which is often the cause of the most intense type of grief. Sharing strength, love and light x
