AB Building & Electrical Ltd Team have completed another Commercial Refurbishment Scheme for our valued client, Progress Housing Group at Bannister Drive in Leyland. The Project was to convert a disused shop into a new Community Space for Key Unlocking Futures a Charity based in Leyland. The project was completed 2 weeks ahead of schedule and on budget.

Works included

Full strip out of existing shop✅

Installation of SWA sub main to supply property✅

Full installation of containment system✅

Full rewire of property including power , lighting , heating✅

Installation of fire alarm system✅

Installation of security alarm system✅

Full installation of kitchen and toilet facilities✅

Installation of energy efficient electric water heaters✅

Installation of infra-red low energy panel heaters
✅

Installation of ceiling grid with LED lighting✅

FD30 fire doors fitted throughout✅

Installation of fully automated security roller shutters✅

Vinyl flooring fitted throughout✅

Full decoration of property✅

We’ve recently delivered an office refurbishment for Progress Housing Group at their Head Office in Leyland, including three brand-new kitchens and a fully accessible kitchen transformation.

AB's Team have been busy completing office refurbishment works for Southway Housing Trust at the Head Office.

Programme of works are being phased as the offices are occupied. Works were completed over weekends and Out of Hours. Some before, during and after pictures. This phase included:

Installing new LED lighting to offices ✅
Installing new floor sockets to suit new layout ✅
Installing new mood lighting to office ✅
Install new data cabling to suit new office layout ✅
Installing new glazed screen and doors to offices ✅
Bespoke storage cupboards ✅
Full decoration to office space ✅

AB are excited to share that we’ve welcomed a new apprentice to our team!
Please join us in giving a warm welcome to Evie, who has come on board in November 2025.

Evie joins AB’s Compliance Planning Team who look after our electricians’ diaries carrying out EICRs, Remedial works, LD1s, LD2s (Fire Detection), Ventilation Programmes (Fan Installations – Awaabs Law, Damp & Mould team), Consumer Unit Upgrades, Rewires and other electrical projects for Registered Social Landlords (RSLs).

Evie completed her education at Wade Deacon High School in Widnes and is now commencing a Business Administration Apprenticeship. She will be completing her Day Release at Riverside College in Halton.

AB Building & Electrical Ltd Welcomes New Managing Director and Operations Director to Strengthen Leadership Team

We’re excited to share some important updates from the team at AB Building & Electrical Ltd. As part of our continued development, we’ve made some key changes to our leadership team that will help us deliver even better service and support to our Clients.

We’re proud to announce that Simon Crewe has been appointed as our new Managing Director. Simon has worked with a range of companies in the Social Housing Sector, helping them achieve their goals. As a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), he brings a broad skill set and a strong strategic vision to the role.

As Managing Director, Simon will be responsible for overseeing overall operations, shaping business strategy, and reporting to the board, ensuring the company remains focused, agile, and aligned with its long-term goals.

Joining Simon on the leadership team is Daniel Birchall, who has been appointed Operations Director. With over 20 years of management experience in the building and electrical sector, and as a Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Daniel brings a wealth of operational expertise. In his new role, he will be responsible for managing budgets, implementing strategy, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and continuously improving operational processes to enhance efficiency and service delivery.

David Batterton Director said; “Simon has been with the business for over 9 years, and Daniel has been with the business in excess of 10 years. During this time they have both played key roles in developing AB Building & Electrical Ltd’s service offering and geographical coverage. I am excited to see how this improved structure delivers for our business and our valued Clients”.

We believe these changes will not only strengthen our leadership team but also improve how we deliver our services and support our Clients. David Batterton said:

Congratulations to Paula Reynolds on passing her AM2 exam and becoming a fully qualified electrician!

After 20 years of dedicated service in law enforcement, Paula made the courageous decision to switch careers, trading her police badge for a toolbox. Her journey into the electrical trade is a powerful example of resilience, adaptability, and the pursuit of meaningful work.

Paula’s interest in skilled trades grew over time, having picked up plumbing and joinery skills along the way. A spark was lit when she helped a friend with basic electrical work during a bathroom refit. “I found it fascinating. The problem-solving, the precision, the physical work. It just clicked,” she recalls.

Paula approached AB for volunteer experience, and it quickly became clear to the AB management team that Paula had a strong work ethic and transferable skills ideal for working in social housing.
