From design to reality…

A recent bespoke media wall project coming together nicely.

Starting with our initial SketchUp design, the whole feature has been built from scratch on site, incorporating a large electric fire, recessed TV area, built-in storage, plastered feature columns and solid oak shelving.

The oak shelves have been made to run continuously through the design, with recessed LED lighting added to the shelving areas to really bring it to life in the evening.

Still a few finishing touches to go, including the TV, but it’s great seeing the original design turn into the finished feature.

We undertake bespoke joinery, media walls, kitchens and internal renovation work across Wigan and surrounding areas.

Another successful work experience placement done! Muqi has been amazing this week, turning up on time and ready to work every day. He’s been very inquisitive and wanting to find out about jobs he can get in the future and is particularly interested in civil engineering. This week he has used a range of tools and helped to build some shelving units and tidy up around our workshop, he’s also built some shelves for a home, and helped with small jobs enabling David to finish a kitchen. We wish Muqi all the best in Year 11 and we believe this week has given him a great insight into work. Thanks for all your hard work and enthusiasm 🤩

Here’s Noah getting hands-on with the track saw during his work experience at Hales Joinery.

Throughout the week he had the chance to use a range of tools and equipment under supervision, learning how accuracy, safety and attention to detail are essential on every job.

It’s always good to give young people the opportunity to experience the trade properly and see what working in joinery is really like.

A great week having Noah with us on work experience at Hales Joinery
He turned up on time every day, was polite, keen to get involved, and asked plenty of questions about the different trades, as well as the pros and cons of being employed versus self-employed.

During the week he got hands-on experience with a range of jobs, including:
• Mixing and screeding a floor
• Fitting a door handle
• Helping fit an integrated fridge
• Installing two bathroom privacy locks
• Building a platform outside a fire exit
• Cutting and making shelves
• Using the CNC machine to cut out arches
• Adjusting doors and hinges in the workshop
• General workshop and unit maintenance, including keeping the workshop tidy and even cleaning the fish tank! 🐟

The only skill that still needs a bit of work… making a good cup of coffee! ☕😂
