IF WE WERE TO ADVISE ALL PLUMBERS, OUR NEW INTAKES INCLUDED...

We will say the following:

1. If you lack communication skills, please don't be a plumber. You shouldn't be the plumber who goes in and goes out. It's done, it's fixed, and you are off. Communication is important.

2. If you are thinking about being a plumber, check first that you are the type who enjoys helping people. Don't go in for the money, or you won't be happy.

3. If you have just started out as a plumber, acknowledge that you are a newbie. You are prone to mistakes. But, how you handle your mistakes matter more than the mistake itself. Let your customer know, they might be angry with you at the moment, and you may lose some money but at least you did right by them. Your self dignity and reputation will remain.

4. If you are someone who cannot stand by your words, please don't go into plumbing.

5. If you give up easily on task, please leave plumbing alone.

6. If you have spent years in plumbing like we have, it doesn't put you above mistakes. Nobody is above mistakes. Always acknowledge that.

7. Your definition of best might not be what your customers have in mind. You can give your best to a customer and they will not be satisfied. Hence, always try to understand exactly what they want, so that you can let them know if it's possible or support in the way they want.

8. If you sense that a job is beyond you, don't be ashamed to seek help or support from others. As a Plumber, you are meant to have a network. Seek them out. Two good heads will always increase your success.

9. Recognize that homes have different types and brands of equipment. Some might be new and some might be old. So if you are not all that of a careful person, Plumbing might not be for you.

10. Finally, love what you do, irrespective of the challenges. There will always be moments of being stuck, and other challenges that we see on a daily. But we remain strong, and we serve with diligence.
