WDSME is an engineering/railway club which opens up to the public on the First and Third Sunday of the month between April and October. We are a small friendly group of members young and old that come from all walks of life and do not necessarily have an engineering background. The club was started in 1975 and from that day has grown into a very attractive little railway. Members meet on Sundays t
hroughout the year to do general maintenance or just to have a chat and a cuppa. We are always looking for new members to join us, whether or not you have a railway interest. Feel free to pop along to one of our running days to see the club in action. History:
The above society was formed in 1975 by a few enthusiasts with a common interest in model engineering, small steam locomotives in particular. Our first objective was to find a site were we could build a layout...We approached Wimborne council with an offer to build a layout similar to what you see on the photo’s in one of the councils recreation parks, this offer was rejected. In 1975 Flight Refuelling Sports and Social Club kindly offered us the present site. All the structures and landscaping on our layout have been built by the members past and present.
