Tomorrow I will be walking 43km from my home in Wincham to Widnes Vikings Rugby Club to raise money for the British Heart Foundation in memory of my brother, Mark, who passed away unexpectedly on 27th January 2025 at the age of 43. Widnes Vikings holds a special place in our hearts, as both Mark and I grew up watching the team from an early age, sharing countless memories together. I will be setting off early on Sunday morning with the aim of arriving at the ground before kick-off for Widnes Vikings’ first home game of the season. The distance of the walk reflects Mark’s age and is a symbolic way of honouring his life, while supporting the vital work of the British Heart Foundation to help prevent other families from experiencing a loss like ours.
