Plumber V's Bertie the cat - I had to share this incident captured by the customers Ring door bell. My instructions were to not let the cat outside under any circumstances, then oh ###X he's out and I don't want to be the "plumber that lost the cat". There was a twist in the tail -bloody look alike cats !

A Christmas gift from HMGOV...

I'm a huge fan of heat pumps and really really rate the tech (in the correct property).

Gas and oil boilers will increase in price by £120 minimum to counter the CHMM levy at 4% of renewables ex. New build.

On 30th November 2023, the Government published their long-awaited response to the Clean Heat Market Mechanism (CHMM) which as of the 1st January 2024 will become effective with some minor amendments.

The CHMM is intended to increase the slow uptake progress of Heat Pumps by placing an obligation on boiler manufacturers to increase the consumer demand for heat pumps or hybrid systems.

Are you experiencing water outage due to ongoing Southern Water problems?

If you are heading out for the day or off somewhere for Christmas make sure all taps are off or better still turn off the main stopcock.

Just had a call from a customer. The water supply was reinstated over night and the basin taps were still on. Combine that with a partially blocked waste pipe and you have disaster.

FFS, if I get another call/message about heating not working.
It's (not working) because you have reduced the temperature from 21c to 18c.
" I read on Money saving Expert that I will save money by turning the thermostat down"
"You will save money because the heating comes on less often to maintain a lower temperature"
"I'm cold"
"Turn it up then, probably to 21"
" Will it cost more"
" YES!"
Honestly that Martin Lewis is a right t**t.

Another one done - I can't find the "before" photo. Edit - see comments for "before ". Thanks to Tim and Greg on the tiling. Nice Calypso units with Fontana integrated basin and worktop, a great improvement. Next job isn't too far away, only downstairs

A conversion to a pressurised hot water system - the noisy pump has been removed giving high pressure to all outlets. This is part of a complete refurbishment project - 3 bathrooms, cloakroom complete heating system, kitchen and utility

Picking up other installers/service companies ****. So apparently this boiler was fitted to regs and maintained annually - what a wreck at 8 years old.

Credit where its due to Worcester Bosch they provided a main heat exchanger FOC under their 10 year main hex warranty - industry leading customer care in my opinion

FOC parts, paid for parts and labour costs came in around 1/5th of like for like replacement costs - all avoidable if someone had actually maintained it correctly
