We were approached by a lovely older guy while on a job that had been through a lot with his health recently. Unfortunately he had his grass dug up and had a stoned driveway put in by an “unknown company”. The pictures speak for themselves. It was complete bog, sinking, and the type1 and stone mixed with clay. They put down a base of roughly 50mm of type1 which almost definitely was not compacted properly (in areas give or take) straight on top of clay and must have been less than 20mm of stone! To help him out we made some time to dig it out, muck away, add a base of track ballast on top of the clay, then 150mm of type 1 followed by stone. We are going to return and add some more stone for this lovely couple!
We also had the pleasure of a tour around his antiques Mercedes/cars showroom and his wifes handmade doll houses! And an invite to pop in for a cuppa when needed. Glad we could help guys👍🏻
