Today we carried out a full annual service on an 8-year-old Worcester Greenstar Combi boiler and magnetic filter — a great example of how proper maintenance keeps a system in excellent condition.

The old cylinder isn’t designed to work with an air source heat pump we’ve replaced it with a larger 250L pre-plumbed Daikin UK unit, it might look oversized but its essential.

Air source heat pumps (ASHPs) run at lower temperatures than gas boilers and heat water more slowly, so your system relies much more on stored hot water rather than quickly heating it on demand like your conventional boiler.

🔧 Keeping this ASHP heating system running at its optimum performance.

We traced leaking antifreeze valves back to silicone contamination left inside from the original installation. Faulty components like this can reduce system reliability and lead to ongoing pressure or circulation issues if not corrected.

The customer had also recently added a new extension to their property, creating extra demand on the heating circuit. To match the larger system volume we installed an upgraded expansion vessel to ensure the heating system can operate efficiently and safely.

A water test was also carried out to check inhibitor levels within the system, which showed additional inhibitor was needed to maintain protection and system efficiency.

An undersized expansion vessel on an ASHP system can affect efficiency and cause pressure fluctuations with frequent discharge through safety valves. Long term this can lead to unnecessary wear on components, and potential breakdowns.
