💧 The leak isn’t always where you think it is

We were called out to a leak showing through the ceiling from the upstairs bathroom.

The customer believed it was coming from the old bathroom taps and had already purchased replacements. But water can track away from its source, and after investigating, we found this leak was actually caused by failed grout and silicone around the bath.

The customer asked us to fix the leak and while we were there, to fit a new vanity unit, shower rail and taps which gave the bathroom a freshen-up at the same time.

🚿 That tiny leak around your shower could cost you thousands 💰

Failed silicone around this shower tray was allowing water to escape where it shouldn’t. The old silicone was raked out and fresh bathroom silicone applied, restoring a clean and watertight seal.

💧 The most obvious benefit was stopping the leak which left unchecked can lead to water getting behind the shower and cause significant damage to the property.

🦠 Less obvious was the mould that had built up on the old silicone, this can affect indoor air quality and may contribute to health problems for some people.
New bathroom silicone contains fungicides that help resist mould regrowth and improves the cleanliness of the area

Simple repairs done early could prevent much larger and more costly ones later.

🚨 Apparently, this boiler was serviced every year 🐷🪽

We had an emergency call-out for this Viessmann heat-only boiler after the feed and expansion tank started overflowing onto the neighbour's garage.

These are quality boilers when properly maintained and should provide years of reliable heating. A quick check of the wider heating system made it clear that things hadn't been getting the attention they needed.

After investigating, we found the cylinder had split, causing the system to overflow, this was replaced with a brand-new cylinder from Williams Plumbing and Heating Supplies, along with a new thermostat and central heating pump for good measure.
