Project Highlight! Hidden Asbestos Floor Tiles
We were recently instructed to remove asbestos floor tiles at a residential property. Once works commenced, it became apparent that a previous owner had altered the fireplace by extending brickwork to both sides and across the front to create a new visual finish.
As a result of this alteration, asbestos floor tiles had been concealed and effectively trapped beneath the brickwork. This was only discovered once the removal works were underway.
Rather than leaving any asbestos material in place, we went beyond the original scope of works and carefully removed the lower level brickwork to gain full access. This allowed us to complete a thorough and fully compliant removal, ensuring no asbestos materials were left in situ.
Hidden asbestos is more common than many people realise, particularly in older properties that have been altered or refurbished over the years. This is why experience, care, and attention to detail are critical when carrying out asbestos works.
If you are planning refurbishment or removal works and are unsure what may be beneath the surface, professional advice and testing can help avoid unexpected issues further down the line.
