Ever wondered how quickly you can swap a gas boiler for a low carbon solution like the ZEB? 👀

Okay… maybe not quite this quickly 🙃 But with a typical ZEB installation often completed in just 1–2 days, we think that’s pretty good going.

And there can be another bonus.

Our installers regularly come across old boiler cupboards that have slowly become the household “Monica cupboard” - full of everything you don’t quite know where else to put. We can all relate.

Taking the old boiler out and installing a ZEB can be the perfect excuse to have a clear-out, reorganise the space and turn it back into something genuinely useful.

And that’s a wrap! 📸 Over the last few days, we’ve been working with a local photography studio on some fresh photographs of the ZEB.

The aim of the shoot was simple: to show the ZEB in real homes, with real people, real spaces and real pipework.

That last part really matters. Our Regional Service Manager attended the shoot to make sure every installation setup was technically accurate and representative of how the ZEB would be installed in each space. At every point, accuracy came first - even ahead of making things look “perfect”.

Although, we have to say, we still think it looks pretty good 😍

A big thank you to everyone involved for the thought, care, and pure physical effort that went into making this shoot happen 👏

We hope our new imagery will help our customers picture the ZEB more clearly: as a practical, well-designed heat battery boiler that can look fantastic in their home. We’re excited to share a refreshed look over the coming weeks!

Congratulations to Miatta Fahnbulleh MP on her appointment as Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero.

It is great to see Miatta back at DESNZ. In March 2025, we welcomed her to a North-West London home to see the tepeo ZEB in action: a heat battery boiler providing space heating in a Victorian terrace, alongside a Sunamp Thermino for hot water.

It was just over 8°C outside, but inside the home was a comfortable 21°C - with no gas boiler, no outdoor unit, and no change to the existing radiators or thermostat.

Heat batteries are already helping real homes move away from fossil-fuel heating today, while using electricity flexibly. As the Warm Homes Plan progresses, it is vital that households have access to the full range of clean heating options - including heat batteries.

We welcome the Government’s commitment to extending the Boiler Upgrade Scheme to include heat batteries, and look forward to working closely with the new Secretary of State and the DESNZ team to ensure implementation supports the homes and households that need this technology.

We were pleased to join Freddie van Mierlo MP at the home of two tepeo customers in Tetsworth and see their ZEB heat battery boiler in action.

Freddie described tepeo as a "UK success story": technology invented and manufactured in the UK, with the potential to support the energy transition while creating growth, skills and economic value here in the UK.

The visit also highlighted why heat batteries need fair policy support. Extending VAT relief to heat batteries, alongside heat pumps, would give more households a genuine choice when moving away from gas, oil or LPG, and help ensure the right technology can be matched to the right home.

Apparently, football fans are very predictable ⚽

During England’s opening World Cup match against Croatia, electricity demand across Great Britain rose by around 500MW at half-time - roughly the equivalent of nearly 170,000 kettles switching on at once.

Then demand climbed again by another 170MW at full-time as viewers headed back to the kitchen.

A nation united by football… and the need for a cup of tea 🍵

It’s a fun example, but it makes a serious point: when we use electricity matters ⚡

As more of our heating, transport and everyday lives become electric, we need technologies that can use energy more flexibly - drawing power when demand is lower, storing it, and making it available when people need it.

Because electrification isn’t just about using more electricity. It’s about using it better 🌎

One underrated thing about the ZEB? It feels like part of the home.

Yes, it’s there to heat the house. But once it’s installed, our customers sometimes notice the smaller everyday things too.

🏠 A bit of gentle background warmth in the room.
👕 Handy when the laundry is drying indoors.
🐶 Or, in this case, prime dog bed territory.

And because it’s designed to fit inside the home, it can sit neatly alongside the everyday bits of family life - more like a white good than a traditional boiler hidden away in a cupboard.

It’s the kind of thing you only really notice once the ZEB is installed. It doesn’t feel like a big piece of “new technology”. It just quietly gets on with the job
