Helping heating engineers win more work, stay compliant, and run smarter businesses with all-in-one software for heat loss calculations, designs, quotes, surveys & job management. The historically tedious work required to gather details of a property and then complete a detailed heat loss calculation has caused frustration within the industry, and current software available hasn't really addressed

or improved this challenge. STANDARDS

The methods used in our calculations are from the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) The Domestic Heating Design Guide 2014 and EN 12831. The UK standards for MCS MIS 3005 and MIS 3004 have also been met ensuring heat pumps and Biomass calculations can be presented. UNIQUE FEATURES

Users who suffer from Dyslexia can change the colour on the Heat Engineer website to help them read and navigate easier. We also created a comparison feature which displays the running costs from various fuels. This comparison should encourage companies and engineers who initial select their primary fuel source as a fossil fuel boiler to swap with a renewable heating solution instead. Therefore helping new plumbers and heating engineers into the renewable sector. Readers who may be unfamiliar with heat loss calculations

Before a heating system is installed whether it's a renewable or conventional fossil fuel boiler, its important that a plumber or heating engineer completes a detailed room by room heat loss calculation. The results from a heat loss calculation can then be used to determine each room's emitter size (Radiators, fan convectors, fan coil units and underfloor heating pipe centres) and the overall power output (kW) required for the heat pump, Biomass or conventional fossil Boiler. Other information can also be presented such as;

Estimation on running costs and heating and hot water energy consumptions
Comparison of different fuels against running cost
Heat pump seasonal performance factor (SPF)
Bivalent system
Current radiator outputs at different flow temperatures. Ground Loop Design

What a fantastic evening at the Renewable Energy Awards in London, held at the Sheraton Hotels & Resorts Park Lane, opposite Buckingham Palace.

We’re incredibly proud to have been named finalists in two categories:

• Collaboration of the Year (alongside our partners at Grundfos)

and

• Accelerating the Clean Energy Transition

While we sadly didn’t scoop a win this time, out of the hundreds of entries from across the whole decarbonisation industry, reaching the final five finalists is an achievement we’re really proud of and a reflection of the hard work, innovation, and dedication of everyone inour team.

The room was filled with some of the biggest names in renewable energy, making it an honour to be recognised alongside so many organisations driving the industry forward.

A special mention to Ben Duckworth, Rich Cartwright and James Johnson for representing Heat Engineer Software on the night and for working through their sore heads today! 🍷

What a fantastic evening at the Renewable Energy Awards in London, held at the Sheraton Grand Park Lane, opposite Buckingham Palace.

Great to have Simon Drury visit us to carry out a Pulse air permeability test.

At Heat Engineer Software, we did this specifically to improve our software by gaining a deeper understanding of how air permeability affects heat loss calculations and the overall sizing of heating systems.

We expected a result of around 8–9 m³/h·m² at 50Pa, but the actual result came back at 10.33 m³/h·m² at 50Pa.

It’s a great reminder that simple assumptions can easily lead to inaccurate results. The more we understand real world building performance, the better we can make our software for accurate heat loss calculations and better heating system design.

We also experimented with different setups to compare results, which made the exercise even more valuable and helped us understand how testing conditions can influence the data.

It was also a brilliant learning experience for my son Reuben, who is nearly finished with his Level 2 plumbing course. He took away a valuable lesson from Simon on Pulse testing and the importance of understanding air permeability properly.

Big thanks to Simon for sharing his knowledge and helping us deepen our understanding.
