I think the most characterful homes are the ones that don’t look like they’ve been decorated all at once.

They feel collected over time. They mix old with new, layer different textures and materials, use lighting to create atmosphere and includes pieces that actually mean something to the people living there.

As an interior designer, I’m not interested in creating a home that simply looks ‘nice’. I want it to feel considered, personal and lived-in.

Character doesn’t come from adding more. It comes from making the right choices and sometimes knowing what to leave out.

Every successful design begins with a feeling.

For this project, my client wanted a bedroom that felt calm, warm and had space to switch off, but needed help bringing all those elements together.

The first stage of my bespoke colour consultation is creating a concept board - exploring colours, textures and feelings to guide the scheme.

This isn’t about choosing a colour from a chart. It’s about understanding how a space should make you feel.

Every great design starts with a concept board. It’s where the vision comes together, helping to define the mood, colour palette, textures, materials and overall style before any detailed design work begins.

Having a clear concept gives both me and my client a shared vision to refer back to throughout the project, ensuring every decision supports the overall design.
