This Sunday (9th August) our Womens first team will play their first ever game since inception, to say were excited, overjoyed and proud is an understatement. 3.00pm Kick off at Wombourne Leisure Centre 3G, Ounsdale Road, WV5 8BJ, free admission (donations are welcome).
3 months ago we had nothing in place, Ryan Magson met with us and agreed to be the manager bringing a wealth of experience but much more than that he shared the same values of what were trying to achieve at Wombourne. A platform for our players to be successful through the environment we create, success through enjoyment and caring for each other in the process.
Our support staff grew adding; Pierce in a coaching role bringing fresh ideas and positivity, Neil Hughes who has been so important in the background especially helping us gain kit sponsorship and Gage in an analytical role we feel this can give us an edge and help us develop each and every player who wears our 3 stars.
We had over 30 players trial for a team with no previous history, and we can’t express our thanks for those that came and gave us an opportunity to present this project with some players choosing to step down the league tiers to give us a chance.
Choosing the squad has been the toughest thing to do this last month or so, but all of us involved feel we have formed the perfect group for us to grow. Watch this space to really get to know each of them a little bit more individually.
Central Electrical Contracts Ltd are our Home, Away and kit sponsor for our maiden season and without Paul’s agreement, and Richard and Lauras support for our team we would have potentially failed before we had even begun, we cant express the thanks; we hope to make you all proud of us with your name emblazoned on the front of our every success!
I’m so excited to say we will have a group of Mascots leading out our players this Sunday a mixture of their children, our girls playing in our under age teams and Wildcats our weekly football program for Girls aged 5-11.
Come along and you can safely say you were there at the very beginning!!!
