🌱 Quality starts in the field.

After five heatwaves over the past few months, many grassy areas across the country have become yellow, dry and dormant. Our turf fields, however, are carefully irrigated and closely monitored to keep the crop healthy throughout the year.

Photographs from this morning’s harvest highlight the care, attention and commitment that go into every roll we produce. With professional irrigation, regular monitoring and the right nutrients, our turf remains healthy, deeply green and well hydrated—even through challenging growing conditions.

🌧️ The rain has arrived—but don’t stop watering your new lawn!

Despite the showers, the Midlands has received just 2.6mm of rainfall over the past 24 hours. That’s nowhere near enough for newly laid turf, which needs approximately 25–30mm of water per day while its roots establish.

Continue watering thoroughly and don’t rely on rainfall alone over the next few weeks.

☀️ YOUR TURF HAS ARRIVED. WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?

During hot weather, turf must be laid as soon as possible, ideally immediately after delivery.

Rolled turf naturally generates heat. The longer it remains rolled or stacked, the greater the risk of overheating and deterioration.

When your delivery arrives:

🌱 Move the turf into a shaded position where possible
🌱 Begin laying immediately
🌱 Work steadily across the lawn
🌱 Keep the rolls tightly joined without overlapping
🌱 Make sure every roll has good contact with the soil
🌱 Water completed sections as you work, where permitted

If an unavoidable delay occurs unroll the turf and lay it flat to release trapped heat. Do not leave fresh turf rolled up in direct sunlight.

💧 Can you lay new turf during a hosepipe ban?

The short answer is yes—but only if you can water it properly and comply with your local restrictions.

A hosepipe ban does not automatically prevent you from purchasing or laying fresh turf. Several water companies currently allow newly laid turf to be watered with a hosepipe or sprinkler for up to 28 days while it establishes. However, the conditions vary: some exemptions apply only to professionally laid turf, while others may only cover turf installed before the restriction began.

Before placing an order, check the latest guidance from your own water supplier. If you cannot legally or practically provide enough water, we strongly recommend postponing installation.

If you are laying turf during the expected heatwave:

🌱 Prepare the ground before your delivery arrives
🌱 Lay the turf immediately—never leave it rolled up in hot weather
🌱 Water each section thoroughly as it is laid
🌱 Ensure water reaches the soil underneath, rather than simply wetting the surface
🌱 Water early in the morning or during the evening to reduce evaporation
🌱 Follow your water supplier’s rules regarding hoses, sprinklers, watering cans and non-mains water

Fresh turf requires consistent moisture to establish, especially during extreme heat. With careful planning and sufficient watering, a new lawn can still be successfully installed—but if you are unsure whether you can meet its watering needs, it is better to wait.

Please check your local water company’s website before ordering, as restrictions and exemptions can change.
