There is an easy and reliable way to treat Box Moth Catarpillar. Topbuxus have a product called xantari. It’s soluble and you can water it on. It’s saved 360 box balls at an estate I look after. I’ve noticed so many posts recently so I’ve posted a ‘how to’ on my Instagram page

I know most gardeners have a favourite tool! this is mine…I just can’t do without my old onion hoe (hence the red tape so I avoid losing it). It’s very old and used to belong to my Grandad so it’s very dear to me. Now I know it’s an onion hoe but I have found this to be a great design of tool to work through beds and borders of all kinds. Just armed with a bucket and a small kit, that’s all you really need to maintain a garden. Up until recently my trusty tool has been an utter work horse, I hate to tell you this but My little onion hoe has had a terrible work related injury…..it’s handle came off 😱 After extensive surgery it’s back in action, although the accident made me realise how precious he is to me! as a result I have bolstered my little army of hand tools and treated myself to some handy additions! The .hq right handed hoe and a new hori hori knife. Hopefully this will ease the burden on my trusty friends the .hu push pull hoe with the star system short handle and my No’ 2 Secateurs. 💚

Never underestimate lighting in a garden! It creates much needed drama after dark. This is my Hydrangea petiolaris in my garden at home with purple LED bulbs in my uplighter 😍 It’s a climber and does well here in full shade. It has beautiful white blooms but even in the winter has a nice skeletal structure.

The finished garden 🤩 of Clarke Lanscaping Tenterden has worked miracles with this garden. I try not to steal the glory when I come in and plant it up but the plants steal the show by themselves. They are the glue that pulls everything together and makes a garden. The site has been ‘cut and filled’ to bring the levels up to make the garden more useable and we have broken the garden in to different terrace levels that link nicely with each other. The green sleepers have been charred (shou sugi ban), this helps weatherproof them and therefore makes them last longer. This also made the link back to the house that has black window frames. My absolute favourite part of this garden is the handmade water feature. I couldn’t have done it without Click and his team and I think the overall effect is wonderful and looks like it’s been there for ever! 💚

This was a project in Rye that I first visited nearly a year ago. The first pic is the only access into the garden which was the first major hurdle. Once the initial design was completed and signed off by the client we started hunting for landscapers to build. So many companies visited the site and so many flatly refused or put in excessive quotes. Luckily I stumbled across a beautiful website (clarkelandscapesuk.com) of a local landscape company, only to realise after a phone call that is was my good friend . Click loves a challenge and had some genius ideas on how to complete this project on time, on budget and how to deal with the tricky access. I can’t recommend him enough. You can see in the pictures that the site had a multitude of different levels and was very disjointed. See my next post for the completed project. 😍

Away on our hols and this is one of the best gardens and hidden gems I’ve ever visited. in Barbados. Definitely a bucket list garden to visit and Anthony Hunte is the best host, inviting you for cake and a chat to finish. Another amazing sight whilst we were there was some nesting humming birds. So delicate and so many hidden seating areas to sit and soak it up. One other note is that Anthony plays opera throughout the garden which added a really nice layer to the experience. 😍 Anthony, you are one in a million as is your wonderful garden. Thank you for a wonderful day 🌱🌴

This is one of the borders at the end of a swimming pool. We installed some hedging units from that are absolutely brilliant. This should make a nice solid hedge this year and act as a windbreak for the pool area. We’re just going to reduce the height on the hedge soon so the client can make the most of their wonderful views.
