Remember to always apply silicone sealant for your showers and baths; if you don't, the water from numerous uses can build up behind the tiles in the bathroom, causing them to bloat out of the wall. This can cause a large amount of damage and unnecessary spending to fix.

If you've inherited a home and this issue occurs, it likely means either the silicone sealant is damaged or hasn't been installed correctly. If you plan to install it yourself, make sure you don't grout the line you intend to apply the sealant to.

If you have a blockage in your drains, it's best to identify where the nearest manhole is on the street. There's a chance that it's a shared manhole. If it is, some water supply companies will unblock it for free.

Establish where your drains connect in your household incase of an internal blockage. Being able to tell your plumber where the blockage might be saves a great deal of trouble and time for the blockage to be removed!
