First harvest of golden currant tomatoes. These all came from the tray of plants that I didn't need to pot-up, but didn't have the heart to throw away.

My absolute favourite tree in the entire county, a massive multi-stem lime (Tilia cordata) alongside Leigh Brook in the Knapp and Papermill. Quite possibly a long neglected coppice stool, I've never actually managed to get the full tree in a single photograph.

Severe damage to a relatively young woodland at the paws of grey squirrels. Oak and birch hit particularly hard, aspen and wild service appear to be doing quite well. Ash is naturally resistant, but otherwise being thoroughly destroyed by ash dieback.

Our diverse Forest is an ecological sanctuary for many species. We plant our trees in specific zones based upon their natural ecological niches - how they live and interact with other organisms in a habitat.

Shrubs line the woodland fringe, followed by β€˜edge’ trees and then the primary β€˜high’ forest trees such as oak. This creates a sloping interface that produces yet more habitat variation in the Forest.
