Willow reduction. Ben pollarded before but the customer didn’t want a full pollard this time so took off a lot of the height but left the weeping willow effect for them #

Cold start this morning but soon turned to blue skies. Reducing this London Plane street tree. I did a reduction on this tree in 2016. Plenty of growth put back on. This species has the potential to get to 30+m. A very tolerant species for urban environments but ultimate size needs to be considered. Not many of these planted as street trees these days to save with ongoing management costs. Me and Pete did the climbing work, Si and the traffic management lads on the ground.

Beech tree pruning today. Spreading over three gardens and various sheds and shrubs. Pete and Tom up the tree, and Simon on the ground helping us get the shape right and keep on top of the branches.

We recently went to The Big Rescue Event. A fundraiser for the Air Ambulance but also an opportunity to get up-to-date training.

At Faithful Tree Care the team is qualified to carry out tree climbing operations using a rope and harness. As part of the tree climber NPTC qualification, we also have an assessment in Aerial Rescue. When tree climbing tasks are being carried out there must also be someone present who is equipped and able to carry out an aerial rescue should an accident happen while aloft or the climber becomes stranded.

The team recently had full days of refresher training in aerial rescue from leading industry professional instructors. We discussed updates to legislation and new techniques and equipment. With the opportunity to meet and talk to many other tree surgeons from the region, including catching up with some old friends.

It was a practical day with different sessions discussing different scenarios followed by taking it in turn to rescue each other.

It was a fun and informative day out. Looking forward to doing it again in the future. Along with our up-to-date First Aid training including dealing with catastrophic bleeds and other typical injuries from our work environment, we would like to hope we are in a good position should an accident happen. Touch wood it won’t (pun intended).

In a recent job we removed some Leylandi Conifers along with their roots and replaced them with some stunning Portuguese Laurel panels.

We are pleased to say we are back working now. This is in a reduced capacity, working in a small team and because of family commitments due to covid-19.
We are physically distancing as much as possible given the nature of our work. We have hand cleaning facilities and regularly wash and wipe hands and tools.
We will not enter your home and can speak at a distance. Please do not be offended if we step away if we feel people are getting too close.
We are happy to look at new enquiries but have a longer lead in time to carry out work than usual due for reasons mentioned above.

Due to government guidelines over Covid-19 we made the decision earlier this week and have paused trading until further notice. We may be available to carry out urgent and safety critical works.

Unfortunately this means we cannot carry out work programmed in with customers but we hope to have been in touch for works scheduled in. We will let you know when we can get back to normal working.
