Historic buildings are more than reminders of the past. They remain an important part of our communities today.
On 15 October, Historic England announced more than £41 million of investment to support 74 heritage projects across England.
The funding will help address urgent repairs, conservation requirements and improvements to historic buildings and places of worship.
It is welcome recognition of the importance of protecting the places that contribute so much to our shared history and community identity.
However, the challenges facing historic buildings extend beyond major restoration projects.
Deteriorating roofs, defective rainwater goods, water pe*******on and inappropriate previous repairs can all contribute to the gradual decline of historic fabric.
Regular inspections, appropriate maintenance and informed conservation planning are essential to protecting these buildings for future generations.
At Soul Architects, our conservation-accredited practice has extensive experience working with historic buildings and places of worship.
Our services include condition surveys, quinquennial inspections, conservation management plans, heritage assessments and specialist repair projects.
We understand that successful conservation is about more than protecting architectural details.
It's about ensuring historic buildings can continue to be valued, used and enjoyed for generations to come.
