Managed to dislocate most of my limbs to be able to replace this old stopcock through a 200x250mm hole for a customer yesterday.
Now I just need to piece myself back together for another day of repairs!

Replacement Unvented Hot water Cylinder yesterday.
The ‘I LOVE U MUM’ sign had to be go back in its rightful place.
Might have been the heaviest cylinder I’ve ever had to remove. Had to Call on a friend and the customer to help pull this giant out.

I hate seeing this level of poor workmanship when I go to jobs.
Unfortunately, for most customers they don’t know what’s acceptable and how many corners an engineer has cut until it’s too late.
It makes me think that I never mind losing work to lesser quotes because the small price to pay for the a huge step up in service is worth every penny. As I know regardless of the value of the job, the customer will always receive the best quality and service provided.
This customer asked me to carry out a service last week on their 3 year boiler, not really knowing if the installation was good or bad.
I highlighted several issues to them which of course I never like to do but as part of a service it’s vital to indicate the faults so that they don’t come back to me later.
This is one of many I see on a day to day basis.
But the extremities of the failures on this one made me want to post about it.
I sympathise with people that of course you don’t know what you’re getting until you’ve paid the money.
Do your research, check reviews.
All my reviews are genuine paying customers, not family members, not friends. Be sure of being sure.
Rest assured some of the most serious issues will be resolved in the new year.

Something to remember going into 2024!

When you have it done properly, you only pay once!

Earlier than expected Combi swap. We got rid of a Crap Glowworm ultimate that was fitted by someone rather Crap.
Met it’s maker almost a year to the day after it’s Guarantee expired (6 years old).
In its place we fitted a Worcester Cdi Compact with a respectable 10 year Guarantee.

The best of the best.
The Cdi was the marvel of all combi boilers and the 8000 is in my opinion the pioneer of a new generation in Home heating.
From a consumer stand point, this boiler is as robust, efficient & reliable as they come.
From a Engineer stand point, this boiler delivers ease in accessibility of servicing & Maintenance and the ability to cleverly moderate the usage requirements of the consumer.
Above all, proven, with no reasonable doubt a bulletproof primary heat exchanger.

Not enough heat from the old Chrome towel rail, so we found one that just about squeezed in the gap with surprisingly triple the heat output of the existing.

Still not exactly sure why someone chose to concrete between joists in a first floor bathroom, but who ever did obviously wanted to make this combi conversion a real bitch!
