This week I picked up the 2-Minute Speaker award at BNI.

My approach every time I’m up is the same: skip the sales talk, share something useful. Whether it’s spotting early signs of a failing boiler or knowing when a “quick fix” isn’t actually safe, I’d rather educate than persuade. It’s how I’ve built S2 Plumbing and Gas, and it’s how I want people to feel about working with me.

Starting a new chapter for S2 🔧

Over the past few weeks, I’ve joined a couple of local business networking groups here in Sussex, and it’s already been one of the best decisions I’ve made for S2.

Running a plumbing and gas business day-to-day, it’s easy to get so focused on the tools and the jobs that you forget to look up and connect with the wider business community around you. Meeting other local business owners, hearing how they’ve grown, and building real relationships (not just handing out business cards) has been genuinely refreshing.

So I’ve decided to start documenting the journey, the wins, the lessons, the behind-the-scenes of building S2 into something bigger. Not just the boilers and bathrooms, but the business side too.

🔧 Plumbing Myths: Busted!

Let’s clear up a few things we hear all the time 👇

❌ “A small leak isn’t a big deal”
Left alone, small leaks can lead to water damage, mould, and seriously high water bills.

❌ “Chemical drain cleaners are safe”
They can corrode your pipes over time, doing more harm than good.

❌ “You can flush anything that goes down the toilet”
Wipes, cotton buds, and “flushable” products are some of the biggest causes of blocked drains.

❌ “If the water is clear, the pipes are fine”
Clear water doesn’t rule out issues like corrosion, leaks, or limescale build-up.
