Planning garden parties or BBQs this summer? ☀️🍔

Don’t forget the lighting.

This customer has chosen smart outdoor lights that not only look great, but automatically come on when the daylight level drops — perfect for those summer evenings that turn into late nights.

Outdoor lighting is a great way to:
✅ Make paths, steps and entrances safer
✅ Create a warm, welcoming atmosphere
✅ Improve security around your home
✅ Match and enhance the overall look of your outdoor space

These lights fit perfectly with the property’s outside aesthetic and add a really smart, practical finish.

Thinking about adding extra lighting outside? Send us a photo of the area you’d like improved, or drop MBEC a message for advice or a quote.

We’ve been having a little look back at some recent customer reviews… and we’re genuinely proud to see 10/10 ratings across the board ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

From emergency “power’s off” call-outs, to full rewires, to the smaller jobs where the details matter (turning up on time, working clean and tidy, explaining what went wrong, and even sorting little extras along the way) — it’s great to know customers value the way we work.

Take a look at the screenshots and you’ll see the themes coming up again and again: prompt, professional, knowledgeable, reliable, reasonably priced and nothing too much trouble.

So… can you afford not to have MBEC on your next electrical job?

These fibre optic “night sky” star lights looked incredible… but after a few years they’d sadly given up ✨

We traced the issue back to the light source in the attic, replaced a couple of key parts, and brought the original equipment back into service. The result? That luxury, starry-sky feel is back again — without the need for a full replacement.

Whenever it’s practical, restoring, re-using and repairing is always our preference:

Reduces waste
Cuts costs
Keeps quality equipment in use

Got lighting that’s stopped working and you’re not sure whether it needs replacing? MBEC can diagnose, repair where possible, and advise honestly.

New home, beautifully decorated for your little princess (and her pet unicorn 🦄)… but still missing that finishing touch to make it a true fairy castle? ✨🏰

LED cloud lights are a small upgrade that makes a huge difference — complete with a remote control for:

- Dimming
- Colour changing
- Timers
…all at the push of a button, without even having to leave the bed.

Small change. Big difference. 💡

If something switches off unexpectedly at your fuse board (consumer unit) ⚡️

First: don’t panic — it’s usually your electrics doing their job and protecting you. Here’s a safe way to deal with it:

1) Make it safe
If you smell burning, see smoke, hear buzzing/crackling, or anything feels hot: turn off the main switch (if safe) and call an electrician immediately.
Unplug anything that was running if you can do so safely (kettles, heaters, chargers etc.).

2) Work out what tripped
One switch off usually means a single circuit (e.g. sockets, lights, cooker).
If it’s the RCD/RCBO it may affect multiple circuits.

3) Isolate the likely cause
Turn everything on that circuit off/unplugged (especially outdoor items, heaters, appliances, extension leads).
Reset the tripped switch.
Plug items back in one at a time. If it trips again, the last item plugged in (or that circuit) is likely the culprit.

4) Common causes
A faulty appliance or charger
Water getting into outdoor sockets/lights
Damaged cables (pets, DIY, crushed behind furniture)
Overloaded extension leads

5) When to stop and call a pro
It won’t reset
It trips repeatedly
You’re not sure which circuit it is
There are signs of heat, burning smell, or visible damage

If you’d like help fault-finding or making your board safer and easier to manage, Martin Bond Electric Contractors can inspect, test and advise.

Finished touches make all the difference — and this room was already on another level. ⚡️✨

We’ve just helped a customer put the final stamp on their space with a funky new light fitting to complement the existing lighting scheme. The result? A room worthy of a Tech Jedi — dark accents, colour-coordinated features, and just the right glow to bring it all together.

Ultimate Man Cave? We’d say so. 😄
If you’re upgrading a room and want lighting that actually matches the vibe (and is installed safely and neatly), Martin Bond Electrical Contractors can help — get in touch for advice or a quote.

Timing is everything when it comes to kitchen lighting 💡

This stage of a project is the sweet spot for electrical work — we can get the lights fitted and tested, then the painters and finishers can come in afterwards to leave everything looking smart, clean, and spotless (no dusty mess or “dirty fingerprints” on fresh paint!).

It’s also the best time to catch anything early. If a fitting needs tweaking, a light position needs a last-minute adjustment, or the customer changes their mind on fittings, we can rectify it before the kitchen is fully finished. Sometimes those changes mean the first fix needs a small alteration — and doing that now is far easier (and tidier) than once everything is boxed-in and decorated.

Plan it right, time it right, and the finished kitchen looks 👌

Meet today’s new apprentice 🐾😸 One-Eyed-Mog!

Turned up uninvited, climbed straight onto the ladder like a supervisor, and demanded head scratches mid-job. Very friendly… but absolutely hopeless with a drill.

10/10 for morale. 0/10 for productivity.

Something a bit different (and very relaxing) on the job list recently 🔥🧖‍♂️

We’ve just wired up an mPulse Smart Sauna — a customisable red / near, mid & far infrared sauna designed to support a range of wellness goals. The system blends multiple light wavelengths and includes pre-programmed light therapy “recipes” (based on 56 clinical studies, as per the manufacturer), alongside relaxing internal lighting.

One of the nicest touches? Full control from a small handheld remote — so when you’re lying back and unwinding, you don’t have to get up to adjust settings.

As always, the electrical side matters: a sauna needs a safe, correctly protected supply and a tidy, compliant install — so it performs properly and stays reliable.

A little bit of forethought goes a long way 💡⚡

This photo is a great example. The EV charging point is positioned at the side of the building, and once the customer moves in, that area will likely be pretty dark because it’s away from the main front lights. So adding a light right by the charger is a simple, practical upgrade — making it safer, easier, and far more convenient to use every day.

They’ve also asked us to install a longer charging lead, which is a smart move if they decide to charge a second vehicle on the drive in future.

That’s the value Martin Bond Electrical Contractors bring: practical solutions, planned with the customer, that make real life easier — every single day.
