We’re looking for recommendations for a small, local commercial cleaning business or self-employed cleaner for our office on Gerald Street, Wrexham city centre.

We’re a retrofit consultancy with a team who regularly use the office, as well as regular visitors. We’re ideally looking for someone to clean once a week, on a Friday afternoon.

As part of our commitment to sustainability and our work towards our own Environmental Management System (EMS) accreditation, we’d particularly like to work with a cleaner who uses or could use environmentally friendly cleaning products as part of their normal service. 🧼🌎🌱

We’d also require appropriate commercial/public liability insurance. There’s space on site to store cleaning products and equipment if needed.

We’re keen to support another local business or self-employed cleaner where possible, so if you know someone who might be a good fit, please drop us a DM with details of your services or tag them below.

The Introduction to Housing programme (via Academi Adra) is a 16-week 𝗣𝗮𝗶𝗱 experience opportunity for young people aged 16–24—offering hands-on experience, mentoring, and insight into careers in the housing sector.

Meet Josh, one of our newest team members! 🚀
When we say “hit the ground running”… Josh has taken that to another level! 👏

Joining us as a Trainee Retrofit Assessor, Josh has achieved an incredible amount in just his first 3 months:

🏆 Level 3 DEA qualified (Domestic Energy Assessor)
🏆 Level 4 Retrofit Assessor qualified
🏆 Level 3 First Aid trained
🏆 Level 2 Health & Safety certified
🏆 Level 3 Award in Energy Efficiency Measures for Older and Traditional Buildings

And his biggest achievement yet… his portfolio was reviewed and approved first time by the awarding body with absolutely no amendments required! 💪💯

Josh is already out surveying homes, gaining hands-on experience, and making a real difference for tenants, their homes, and their energy bills across North Wales.🏡🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

We’re incredibly proud of his progress so far and can’t wait to share more about his journey, experiences, and the projects he’s getting involved in.

We 💚 this idea! bird houses on new builds in Scotland 🐦🏡🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

A great step for biodiversity and greener housing.

Scotland has passed a law mandating the inclusion of “swift bricks” in all new buildings to create nesting spaces for urban birds. 🐦

These hollow blocks are integrated into the sides of buildings. They are cost-effective and help restore habitats lost due to renovations and modern insulation systems. The measure aims to halt the sharp decline of swifts, whose population has plummeted by nearly 60% since 1995. ⚠️

The regulation will also benefit other urban birds, such as sparrows and starlings, and will come into force following a 12-month technical consultation process.

It is a small change in construction that could have a major impact on urban biodiversity.

Passing first time without the need for any revisions is a fantastic achievement and a real credit to his hard work and commitment 💪

Of course, that deserved a proper celebration (cake all round and a well-earned brew at today’s team meeting)🧁☕

For the past few years, we’ve been proud to work alongside Wrexham County Borough Council, helping improve homes across the community 🏡🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Our Retofit surveyors and specialists, working with local builders and installers, have supported hundreds of households to create warmer, more energy-efficient homes that are more affordable to run, while also enhancing appearance and introducing renewable solutions where suitable 🌎♻️

It’s great to see the real difference these upgrades are making, from lower energy bills to healthier, more comfortable and modern living spaces.

We’ll be sharing updates on these Wrexham-based projects, along with others from across North Wales soon 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

What is a Retrofit Assessment? 🏠🍃

A retrofit assessment aims to assess the properties condition to identify what energy saving measures is suitable for your home.

This is part of our commitment to decarbonising our housing stock, with funding from Welsh Government’s Optimised Retrofit Programme (ORP).

What does this mean for you?
- Potential to lower overall costs and usage
- Heat retention
- Protecting the property as a whole
- Assessing your property to ensuring the measures are suitable and properly designed for your home.

If your property has been included in this programme for EWI, a Tenant Liaison Officer will be there to support you throughout the process.

Affordable warmth is a key requirement of the Welsh Housing Quality Standard (WHQS), and External Wall Insulation (EWI) contributes significantly reaching the SAP rating, by improving energy efficiency and reducing heating costs, subject to funding availability.
