We were called in by the new home owner to inspect their old Woodburner.
It had previously been deemed safe by a local company, we were very surprised at what we found.
The liner was short and no top insert, a birds nest was around the outside of the liner and mixed in with the vermiculite insulation. The connecting pipe of the stove was 1.5” from the back of the wooden beam.
A new system was fitted, insulated wrapped liner, all connected up to this stunning Dean Forge Baker 5 wide stove.
Perfect for cooking those winter stews whilst reading a book in front of the fire.

Customer found the grates were not lasting, so I found a bit of bar tucked in the back of the unit, knocked one up for her.

The customer wanted it offset so they could make a feature of the stonework.

What an interesting day.
Teamed up with Alena from Wise Sweep to help with a bee nest removal in a redundant chimney. I learnt so much about the bees and their hive.
It was very rewarding to get them settled into their new hive. 🐝🐝🐝🐝

That one didn’t want to give up the fight easily, we removed an old open fire with a back boiler.
Widened the recess, rendered the internals and laid a matched 2 piece slate hearth.
The Dean Forge Dartmoor 5 was perfect for the room size.

Today is a good day! The sun is out 🌞 and our NVQ certificate has arrived!

In an industry where many are still unregulated, we are pleased that we are registered with OFTEC, HETAS, APICS and now we are NVQ qualified.

That was a bit of a surprise for sure.
A couple had just bought a property and contacted us about an install.
As you can see from the pictures it wasn’t good news, the beam was pretty much touching the liner adaptor.
The wall had been opened up and the cavity was exposed as well, all that was holding the beam in place was silicone.
Thankfully we got it in time.
All bricked up, new lintel fitted and the recess lime rendered.
The stove of choice was Mi-Flues Limited tinder box.
