If ever there was an advert for not trying to fix your boiler yourself, here it is!

We had a customer call after they had run out of oil and they had bled the oil line of air themselves but the following day they had noticed the wall around the flue didn't look right, it was at this point they gave us a call.

When we arrived today it was clear to us what had happened. Instead of opening the bleed point on the fuel pump they had adjusted the fuel pressure. Eventually the boiler fired up and they guessed that they had fixed it. Unfortunately that wasn't really the case.

With the fuel pressure no longer being correct the boiler was running over fueled which caused the boiler to soot up and what could have been a very easy job turned into a very dirty longer job. Thankfully after cleaning the boiler out, a replacement burner nozzle and a new oil line as it was out of date the boiler is now back up and running!

On a recent boiler service, after stripping the boiler down, we found that the electrodes were almost beyond their lifespan. Luckily the customer had booked for a service just in time and avoided a breakdown visit.

This shows the benefits of having a boiler serviced, we can't stop all breakdowns from happening but things like this can be easily avoided with the correct servicing.

We strip down 99% of the boilers we visit on a service to be able to check for things like this. You will also see that we have cleaned the heat exchanger to allow the boiler to run as efficiently as possible and to avoid issues with blocked condensate traps which can also cause the boiler to stop running.

With the weather starting to turn, now is the time to have your boiler checked over before the winter really starts to kick in.

Is your boiler due or overdue its annual service?

Although the weather is tremendous at the moment and you certainly won't be needing your heating on, now is the perfect time to have your service carried out!

We find our busy time hits at the start of winter, when people start turning their heating on. A boiler service could identify an issue with your heating before you need it, this helps get you ready for when the cold snap starts.

Whats more, a service can stop some breakdowns happening (sadly not all of them). Issues with blocked condensate traps are eliminated at service which wouldn't normally be found until your boiler stops working altogether. Not only that but all boilers we service are reset to work to manufacturers recommended settings in regards to their immissions meaning the boiler is burning as cleanly as possible.

This is the news a lot of our customers have been waiting for! The EOGB sapphire, the ONLY fully modulating oil boiler, will soon be available as a combi!! This news means that the Sapphire oil boiler range will be the only oil boilers we will be offering to our customers. WHY? Well that's easy, no other boiler offers modulation providing the system with the right amount of heat in the correct manner, the boiler is one of very few oil boilers that will work on opentherm controls which talk to your boiler in a way it can give the best efficiency possible, stainless steel heat exchanger which can manage owe temp heating allowing for the boiler to condense giving maximum efficiency!

Overall the EOGB sapphire boiler range is by far the best oil boiler range on the market and we cant wait to get our hands on this latest addition to the family!

From today, if you and your neighbour would like to have your boilers serviced on the same day one after the other we will now offer you BOTH a discount in the servicing cost. Whats better is if you and two neighours would like to have your boiler serviced on the same day one after the other we will offer even more dicount to you ALL! This offer is valid up to 6 properties for gas/LPG or 5 properties for Oil for the same day and you can all receive up to 15% discount on your service cost.

All you have to do to arrange this is nominate one person to contact us, we will need the full names, addresses and email address for each property, and we will do the rest for you. Do you have an oil boiler? Finding it expensive to run? Interested in saving upto 25% on your running costs? If so you just might find the EOGB Sapphire oil boiler and interesting option as a replacement for your current boiler!

Why?

Well the Sapphire is the ONLY fully modulating oil boiler on the market. What does this mean? Well, when oil boilers run they fire at 100% of their output so, for instance if you have a 19kw oil boiler when this is fired it runs at 19kw all the time. In most properties the heat loss requirement is a lot less than this meaning the boiler will cycle on and off getting too hot for the efficiency of a condensing boiler to be effective. The Sapphire can automatically change it's output from 6-32kw to meet the requirements of your house which means when the boiler runs at 6kw your using less fuel.

"But if my boiler cycles it doesn't use oil while it's not fired up" Yes, that's true but if you have a boiler running at 19kw for 2 hours but it has spent half the time off, due to cycling it will have still used more fuel that the sapphire running at 6kw constant for 3 hours!

The main heat exchanger also comes with a 25 year warranty, with the average life expectancy of a boiler being around 10-15 years, meaning this boiler could outlast two other boilers by a different manufacturer!

A few of our recent boiler services, both before and after.

Wherever possible we carry out full strip down services on all the boilers we attend. "Why?" Many people would ask, "if the flue gas readings pass there's no need to strip them down and you can adjust the gas valve to make the readings right before stripping them down" well yes, that's true but making adjustments to the gas valve will change the amount of gas that's being used making the boiler more expensive to run.

Carrying out a full strip down service on a boiler allows the boiler to perform at its best and most efficient. It can also save issues later on in the boilers life.

"But it costs more to do" in some cases yes, that's true. Some manufacturers require seals to be replaced once distributed but by removing the burner we can visually check the condition of the burner, electrodes and heat exchanger. Making this an actual service and not just a boiler check.
